Loved Transformers as a kid. LOVED them. The were the perfect toy. Robot, vehicle and puzzle all in one. What's not to love? I stopped collecting shortly after the '86 movie, because I guess at 10 years of age I thought I'd outgrown the hobby, plus all my favorite characters were dead. I'd always kept really good care of all of my belongings, so I took special care packing away my beloved toy collection, knowing full well that it could be a very long time before I ever pulled them out again.

Well it was a long time. 2010. A game called War for Cybertron was to be released. I tried not to get my hopes up, having been severely disappointed with the live action movies, but it was no use. The game was awesome. With announcements that there were to be a handfull of toys produced from models in the game, I decided that I would buy toys for the first time in many years, and that's how it all started, again.

First I pulled out all my old figures from boxes in my mom's basement. Some were in pristine condition and complete, others not so much. I hit up eBay to find missing pieces and to replace figures I'd lost. I bought junkers for parts to fix broken limbs on my originals. I researched Retr0bright. I found reprolabels to help replace damaged stickers. I even started buying figures I'd always wanted as a kid, and then eventually some Masterpiece and 3rd party stuff.

Most of it sat in boxes until late last year when my wife and I had our basement finished. Since then I've been working a little bit each day to get to the point you'll see in these pictures. A big thanks to everyone on this board for all of the inspiration, especially King Benny, who's display I ruthlessly plundered for many ideas.

Alright I'll shut up so you can look at the pics now.

Whenever I click on the pic, it's barely big enough to see anything.

Nice set up. I like how you have everything separated in pirfict sets. All nice gems in there as well. Nice and clean. I dig big time.
    Also. Sweet Strar.

Not planning on adding LEDs any time soon. I'd have to light each shelf individually since the risers would block any light after that top shelf. I used a white backing to reflect as much of the room lighting as possible, and I'm mostly pretty happy with how that turned out.

Thank you sir! I'm not very strict with the layout in terms of seasons/sets and whatnot, I just like to put things where I think they make sense in terms of story. Just having fun with it.

Thanks! Trying to offset the extreme nerdness just a bit ;)

Thanks very much. I've put a lot of work into it.

Thank you! That's what I was going for.

Wow. This is a very impressive looking collection. I like how you managed to display everything to clean and space! What kind of risers are those? If you don't mind me asking?

Thanks! I got them at Bed Bath and Beyond for like $8 a piece. The best part is that they're 15" wide, exactly the width of the cabinets.

Awesome collection with a lot of clean pics.

Thumbs up to the Ehobby G1 color accurate Astrotrain and the MP megatron set-up with a G1 boxed Megatron in the rear (I did the same for my display).

My dumbass spent about a min searching the first pic for some kind of movie replica battle axe or something. :lol  (That is a really cool axe.)

This is one of the best collections i've seen in a long time. Well thought out and organized, beats clusterfuck of hundreds of figures anyday. Nice clear pics too. Must be nealy impossible to tear you away from that room.

I've wanted to comment on this for a couple of days, but didn't really know what to say, so I'll just note the admiration I have for that last bookcase, the one with the odd shapes. I've always liked those things because they not only take away the sense of uniformity that you normally get with standard shelves (which I think is a good thing), but also work toward displaying different types of things without wasting space or having to follow preset visual weight ques.

... in other words, it might not have snazzy glass (although if one wanted to enclose it deeply enough they could do so), I think it's great for collections, and I'm gonna look for one. Heck, I could probably make one myself to whatever shape I wanted, AND since they don't typically have routered parts (for the sake of my post, "routered" will be a word), they can fit into pretty much any living space without the rogue look appearing to be out of place. I know I'm probably 20 years behind on figuring all of this out (if not longer if you count happenstance Microbus interior), but I still felt the near-3 am need to mention it on your wall. :)

    Thanks!

Astrotrain cost me a pretty penny, but I just had to have him. Easily my favorite tripple changer, and the show-accurate colors make all the difference.

Luckily that room now serves as our living room so I'm there quite a bit. I have to admit, I sometimes zone out while watching TV and find myself just staring at my collection. It's distracting!

    Thanks for reading!

My wife found that in a CB2 catalog about 6 years ago right before we bought the house, and it was damned expensive. If I were you I'd definitely try to make my own first. Is seems to work well with a combination of different items, not just books. When all we had were books in there it was a complete mess. This is much nicer looking, I think.

Yeah, I'll definitely look at making my own first, and considering that I've built much more complex things in the past, I can't see it being impossible. Plus if I do, I can actually build it in such a way that it's sturdy & possibly even adjustable to some extent, which from what I've seen isn't always present when you get these from furniture stores.

... and well, I've spent enough on furniture as it is, so I can't afford to put too much more into what's basically just wood, paint & bolts haah. I need my money for what's ideally going to be sitting on/in it. :lol
