If you’d like a short-ish video tour of my display, I’ve uploaded one to YouTube:

You can find out more about my collecting journey in an interview with @Maz over at TFSource from back in 2018:

Collector Interview 67 – Bobby Allen – The Source Report

… and a previous version of my display was critiqued by Bobby Skullface (last collection in this episode, photos from around 2020):

    --------------------

Welcome guys! I want to share the current state of my life-long collecting journey!

The primary display is my "Then and Now" Masterpiece and G1 figures, then it kinda fades into European / Japanese Exclusives, G2, Machine Wars then beyond!

My collection has grown, been in storage, and taken on many forms along the way, here're a few snapshots of its long life...

I was born in 1984, so I grew up collecting G2 and Beastwars:
    IMG_0370.JPG

Back in the days of News Groups and the starting of eBay, my parents helped me hunt down various G1 figures for each holiday:
    IMG_1181.JPG

Eventually I got my first college apartment and started a real display:
    IMG_2608.JPG

I replaced everything with black IKEA Billy shelves:
    IMG_0369.JPG

And on April 11th, 2009 I finally completed my US G1 Collection with Thunderwing:
    IMG_0368.JPG

That same collection traveled with me to my next apartment, where it got displayed again, flat, and with new European and Japanese additions:
    IMG_0036.JPG

Then I downsized into a tiny apartment to save up for a down payment on a house, and this happened:
    IMG_0372.PNG

I did eventually setup a shelf for my Masterpiece figures:

In 2016 we built our house and I decided to start my collection’s final form. Well, what I thought was it’s final form :lol

And now after taking everything off …

… I painted, added furniture, new lighting throughout and here we are!!

Thanks, Ikea and Target pretty much dominate my apartment living!

I've contemplated selling off all my Beastwars -> Modern collections minus a few key favorites and Masterpiece figures simply because I have no room to display them... And as much as the plastic crack addict inside of me will deny it, I think at a certain point it's just over kill lol

Seriously nice set-up. And the sheer volume of figures is staggering. That is impressive as hell that you have the entire G1 lineup. I don't think many people actually are able to get them all. Very nice!!!

Thanks! I've been at it since my parents bought me Computron when I was 5, to about 2 years ago when I finally tracked down a reasonable Thunderwing to finish the G1 collection. About a 20 year process :lol

The Euro and Japanese guys are a much slower process however, as I have taken to finding junker pieces and refurbishing them instead of paying the CRAZY prices they command ;)

LMAO...I know, I know! They get a full, all toys removed, shelves and figures properly dusted about once a year...it's getting close to that time now actually. It'll give me an excuse to re-photograph with better lighting too.

I'm thinking I should also invest in some Dusting Spray :D
