I've been taking some of those ebay shipping boxes and wrapping them like a present in a black lightweight felt or fabric. Held the folds on the sides and pushed black carpet tacks through the fabric into the box to hold the folds in place. Makes good looking cheap risers for the loose figures to stand on. Also take a trip to a craft or fabric store you can find neat materials to use, used a soft foam matting to cover the detolf shelves.

I need some display stands for my deluxe seekers. The kind where you can elevate them and pose them 'mid air'. Does anyone know a UK site or a site that ships these things to the UK?

    Cheers

Looks like smalljoes' Apex display case is finally back. I've been waiting for this for ages but the shipping now though is killer... 48 for one case to be shipping to Vancouver! But it's only 28 to be shipped to Blaine..

    Anyways, link.

Hey guys, I saw these and thought they would be cool for displaying flying characters on. These ones can carry 12oz objects, but I've seen other ones that can hold more. Do you think deluxe figures would be able to float on these?

    Here's a video:

Edit: I weighed some figures and it looks like figures under leader class should be light enough.

Edit: It arrived today. Here's it in action.

    Ebay:
    Hey guys,

I just recently moved and now have the chance to refurbish a few older display cases that i bought a year ago. However, I'm running into a problem with trying to decide the outer display case color vs the inner display color (rear and bottom). I've seen some pics on the internet and this forum that have darker colors on the outer part of the cabinet (mostly black) with an inner color of white....some have trim in metallic colors while some have a solid color that matches the whole outer case color. Not sure on what would be best. Any suggestions?

Also, what kind of lighting is best...puck lighting or LED strip lighting? I really wanted these cases to have a museum-type look. Any help would be much appreciated....

    Thanks!

Does anyone with the Ikea display case have the case elevated? I thought about building a small base to lift it, so I can see the figures that are near the ground. Just wondering if anyone has done it and if there are stability issues with it.

Do you mean Detolf units? I never raised mine, but a friend of mine raises hers and she says it's quite stable. I asked her for a photo, which she doesn't have, but she pointed me at the photo she used for inspiration / guidance, and it turns out it was from this very board (she's not a TF fan herself...). Here's the original post with the picture she used...

The exact unit used by Trailbreaker77 is apparently no longer available, but there is apparently a similar one. There is also Kallax, which comes in 1x4 spaces and can be laid on its side to support multiple Detolfs.

There we go. Thanks. I was planning on building a small base from wood and painting it but that can work too. I'll see which one the wife likes best and go with that one.

Sorry the pictures aren't that great, I took them hastily during my lunch.

Anyway, this is 100% Recycled wood (part pallet wood, part scrap wood from a house renovation) it's 4' tall, 18" Wide, and 12" deep. Obviously no glass on it, but acrylic is pretty cheap.

Cost me about 15 dollars to make, as all I needed was screws and Danish Oil.

Once I buy my own house, I'll have a full room to myself, and I'll build custom shelving around the whole room.

Has anyone custom built their own cabinet of their collection? I'm looking at building something after the life made the suggestion. Something like a china cabinet. I have a decent size collection I want to grow and she has a precious moments collection she's had storage for 10 years.

Hey! A perfect opportunity to show off my cabinet.

    http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/trans...wcase/989613-my-display-cabinet-progress.html

I suspect you may be referring to a free-standing cabinet. But I'm proud of my work so far and hopefully it gives some ideas for what you're looking for.

Yeah, something more or less. Not sure if I am going to build into the wall or free standing. Probably free standing. I thought about drawers at the bottom to store manuals and some weapons, plus I don't want them on the floor. I want them visible, along with the lighting.

I hope this is the right place to put this. Seeing as it is a discussion about Transformers display!

So. I was bored, and was looking at my Detolfs. And I did not like all the wires behind them showing as they did.

So, I put some black felt on the back of my Detolf Shelves. I wanted something to hide the messy wires in the back from when I put the lighting in. I think it turned out very nice. Encase anyone wants to try it, it is very easy.

Go to say Wal-Mart or any place that sells loose Cloth. Get the color you want (I like the black look). Take your shelves apart. Clean them up nicely. Cut out the felt and wrap it around the back glass, use either some Velcro or you can pin the edges together. Put the shelf back together and boom, all done. Or as I did, I took the round Velcro pieces and put it on the back side of the shelves, and stuck the other piece to the felt, and just stuck it on the back, that way I still get the shine from the back glass.

Either method works, and it looks amazing. Also, it is cheap and easy to do. I think I spent a whole $12 bucks to do it.

Here is some pictures of my Decpticon Shelves, just so you can see how it looks.
