My shelves are getting pretty full and I need to start using some kind of risers. What do you guys use? Clear stuff is better for me and an Amazon link would be better, as they ship internationally a lot.

The Container Store has a lot of really cool stuff. I'm pretty sure there have been some things posted in this thread about risers.

Lighting those ikea display cases with cheap LED

I looked and looked for LED Options for my Ikea Display cases. So far everything looked bleak LED Display lights started at $30-$100 or more. Till I was at Walmart in the Christmas section looking at maybe rope lighting...it was to thick! But to my bewilder I saw LED Tape lighting and it works great and only $19.29 for 19.6 feet! I think it works great!

Do you have a picture of the control box or plug end? Is there any bulky part to it that needs hidden?

Nothing to be hidden just plug in and it's good to go. I just zip tied the ends together, what you see in the pic is it.

Thanks, but I was more curious about the electrical plug end. Is there a wall-wart? Does it have a control box for brightness or on/off? Do the LEDs start directly at the plug? Stuff like that.

Just a plug nothing else I have a extension cord running to a wall outlet that has a wall switch that controls it. The start and end in the above pictures, look at it closely you can see it.

I don't think I have room for 2 of those Detolfs. :-( Plus they have so much wasted headspace.

2 Detolf's side-by-side would only be about 8 inches wider. They have practically the same height and depth. I was going to say it looked like 2 Detolf's combined into 1, but its not quite that. I prefer the look of it being one cabinet, but if you have an Ikea within any reasonable driving distance it would be almost 1/3 the price (for 2 Detolfs).

Thanks for the advice. Nope, no Ikea around. I'll see what I can do to squeeze in 2.

This is a very nice idea for those of you guys collecting Masterpiece coins:

Dark Jedi: Mainstays black glass frames 5" x 7", & 8" x 10" from Walmart. The glass pops out of the front and snaps over to close it.

therealdriverx: Recently framed my coins (thanks to Dark Jedi for the idea) and put them up for display. I've got coins for MP-11S, MP-12G, MP-15, and MP-16 on the way now, and I'll be picking coins up for new Masterpiece releases.

Thanks to Dark Jedi for the idea and therealdriverx for the photo of his adaptation of it!

Has anyone tried putting a detolf on top of the Ikea Lack side tables? Table says its rated around 55 lb load, with a Detolf at 90 . . . but maybe they're lying?

I recently bought 1 Detolf, and really like it, but...

I'm afraid that I am going to chip the paint off of my figures that have painted diecast (G1 Optimus Prime feet, the bottom of G1 Wheeljack, etc). I've picked them up a few times, then hit the glass shelf by accident when I set them back down.

Can anyone recommend a good clear plastic that I can use to cover the top of each shelf, to make it a softer platform? I'm thinking just a thin layer of something, like the stuff they use to laminate paper. Maybe I should just hit up Office Depot?

You could just go to Home Depot and buy some acrylic panels and cut new shelves. I broke one of my shelves when I moved and just made a new one with some extra I had in my garage. They will probably even cut it for you if you have the measurements. I even made mine fit tighter than the original shelf.
