Whether or not you use the feet it is still a good idea to make sure it is level. You may need shims but those can work under the feet or just under the bottom panel.

Mine is pretty level without shims but sometimes walking past it makes some of the less stable bots wave back and forth.
Oh wow, thanks for the insight!! i will have to see if I need shims or not, cus the area im thinking of putting them, i can imagine walking past quite a lot! And wouldnt want any of the figs to fall over.

Thanks guys!

I'm running out of space...and the Japanese Masterpiece boxes are too tall to fit in my current system. Any ideas of cheap shelving I could buy?

Any cheap shelving ideas? I need a solution BEFORE I completely run out of space.

Got a question for anybody. I have limited space and I'm considering putting my bookcase display in the corner of the room next to the radiator. would it be a bad idea to put the bookcase next to the radiator?? With regards to keeping the integrity of the toys.

The radiator is very rarely used/opened/turned on, so any exposure to the heat would probably be minimal. Anyone with knowledge on this that could answer me would be greatly appreciated.

Something simple I do to take advantage of all the empty vertical space in my Detolf units, rather than going through the hassle and expense of adding extra shelves, is to use lengths of clear nylon thread (or fishing twine) to suspend some bots and cons. The twine/thread is easily found in most arts and crafts or sport supply stores. I usually tie two lengths to the opposing horizontal bars of the interior metal frame, leaving a fair bit of slack in the middle. I then suspend the toys, front and back, by simply balancing them between the two lengths of twine; perhaps looping the thread around conveniently protruding limbs, wings or other bits to further secure and angle the toy as desired. It looks great for cons or bots in their sleek flight modes, liberates precious shelf space beneath them, helps fill the otherwise empty vertical space and makes the otherwise static display appear more dynamic. A spool of twine is certainly cheaper to acquire than additional shelving or acrylic risers if you're on a budget.

Hope that helps.

I would think on carpet no feet would be fine. Mine are on hardwood floors so I have feet with felt pads under them. I strapped mine but I'm in California so I'm paranoid about them falling over. That would be a lot of glass to clean up.

Define cheap. I used to buy the cheap particle board bookcases from K-mart or Wal-mart. If you need something super cheap maybe you can go to a hardware store and buy some ply wood or shelves and use wall brackets to put shelves on the walls. Won't be the prettiest but it should be fairly cheap I would think.

Gatchaman posted this in the NC Sightings thread, and I thought I'd share it here:
