Nice, though I guess that would really only work if you had carpeted floors? I mean unless you put like caps or whatever to make it level on the bottom. Good idea though combining the detolfs, I like it. Also, wouldn't you have like two long pieces of glass for the wall you're eliminating per detolf? What'd you do with those extra pieces =P Not sure what exactly I'd do when/if I get a space enough for these types of cases.

It works with regular hardwood floors too. I made these same detolfs at my friend's place who has hardwood floors. All detolfs have those 4 bottom feet too so it's pretty stable.

As for extra side glass pieces, i had some extra wall space so i bought wall brackets and used the glass sides for shelves. =]

Another thing to consider for melding the panels together rather than the bolt and plate system is something called a Kreg jig. You can find them at Lowes.

Very cool piece that eliminates some hardware. This was an absolute must for me when building custom cabinets, I intend to use the hell out of it for my TF displays when my man-cave is finished. The video shows the larger version that is table mounted. There is a smaller version that is portable. I have both, and love both.

    YouTube - ‪Kreg Jig®‬‏

An amazing piece for any woodworking project. (No they don't pay me, just one of my favorite tools)

After 2 months and a crap load of dust, I'm definitely investing in a dust-resistant enclosures.

Does anyone know of another retailer that might sell the Detolf shelves? I have checked every Ikea within driving distance and they are all out of stock.

Any other similarly cheap yet effect glass cases to recommend?

if you have a bunch of old VHS tapes in storage. you can kill 2 birds with 1 stone and use them as stands so you can see figures in the back of the shelf

At Target tonight, I saw black bookshelves on sale for $13. It's not the direction I'm heading, but I have seen several members use these types of shelves with great results. It's "back to school" time, so bookshelves tend to be on sale around this time of year (August).

Room Essentials® 3-Shelf Bookcase - Black (they come in white as well).

Craigslist is a great place. I acquired three large glass display cases for a fraction of the original cost. They are very sturdy and display well. My only problem is I have too much stuff so I have to put the box stuff sideways so you only see the side of the box. I do wish there was another way but seeing as my computer room is only 12 by 12 I am limited.....

I need some help, I have 3 awesome IKEA display cases lined up side by side, but need some inspriration on how to display my Transformers in them.

The problem im running into is there is so much head room in each section putting smaller Transformers in them look odd. If you place large transformers in them you can only get maximum of 2 in one shelf area.

So put your images of your transformers in IKEA DETOLF cases here so I can get some creative inspiration going. I also wouldn't mind the TFW community giving me suggestions.

Most folks I know make little "staircases" behind the front row of figures so a second row can stand behind them.

there's also people adding more shelves to the cases as well. I don't remember who it was that started it though.. Made it look really nice though, for sure.

AH, the old Earth Collectible Toy Mall. Very good people. I have bought a lot of stuff from them over the years.

I would like to do the stair step method but the brick & mortar store i could find them at was bed bath and beyond, they weren't clear like i prefer but for me needing to have enough of them to fill 3 IKEA Detolf's is insanely expensive.

someone said something bout clear baseball collector boxes work really well and they are cheap. I wonder where i could find those ( actual store & internet)?
