Thanks everyone for the kind words. No AFA does not give me any deals. I WISH :)  Once the stock market started going south last summer I started looking for other ways to "Invest" my hard earned money, instead of putting ALL my money into stocks, as I am by no means rich. I don't collect AFA items to just buy and sell. I do however sell itmes that I have doubles of (for the most part) or the lower grade of an item, if I have two (with the exception of SWOOP, he is a figure I collect doubles of). I had been collecting mainly 1960s unopened baseball card packs that were graded by a company called GAI. Coming across some TFs online renewed an interest I had long forgotten about, that I had as a kid of the 80s. So I sold off all my sports cards and switched to a new hobby. I soon found I REALLY enjoyed the challenge of trying to collect/find graded G1 TFs. I had hesitated listing my collection on here, b/c of all the "hate" for AFA by some people. But I do like AFA items. So if you don't like them, move along. If you do thats great! I'm glad I could share these with you. If anyone wants to see up close pics of any item LMK.

    Locus,
What Secons do you have that you sent into AFA? INMO Snaptrap has been the hardest to locate. Which Combaticons do you have?

    Chrisr,
AFA does not give me any deals. I did however join their "Club" by purchasing a Platinum membership which offers members additional discounts, since I have/had 35-45 TFs I wanted to get graded. I almost made up for the purchase price of the membership with my first order of 15 TFs I sent off to AFA about a month ago. They should be back in a week, at which time I will update my pics fro anyone interested.

The whole set of both :)  Snaptrap and Onslaught were both opened but still sealed to the bubble (although Snaptrap was graded as sealed, go figure!). Not wanting to hijack your thread so I won't post pics, but there are pics in my collection thread (see my sig for a link). Combaticons are still en route so dunno what grades they got, but 4 of the Seacons are the joint highest graded in the world :)  Overbite and Nautilator were actual highest for a while but then they obviously graded someone else's which were equally as good.

I never understood the purpose of getting toys AFAed. What's the point of buying toys when you're not going to take it out of the package and play with it?

Unless, this is going to a museum or somethin?

Sigh . . . move along. Some collectors just prefer to keep the toys preserved in their box. It's just another hobby that goes along side with taking the toys out of the box.

UMC, that is one hell of a collection. I am experiencing an extreme amount of jelousy. I would love to get some of my G1s graded, but none of them are really in any great condition. Keep doing what you're doing and post some more pictures once you get those AFA items back!

That's an awesome collection. I love the group shot. (Nice Sunstreaker, by the way ;) )

I'm trying to decide whether to start a collection myself--I've been buying and selling AFA-graded for years, but I've never really collected them. Prices are a little lower now than they have been in previous years, so it's probably a good time to get into it.

LOL at Waverider. Yes you saw correct. I got Airwolf for $19 off Ebay a few months ago. I always loved Airwolf as a Kid so I figured why not pick it up for my collection of AFA Items. I'm also trying to get all the TF G1 Helicopters for my collection (I am a helicopter pilot in the Army) so I think I definately ned them in my collection. So far I have Springer and Sandstorm. Vortex will be back from AFA in a few days but I think he will grade low b/c his bubble had a crush/hole in it. I do need a MOSC/AFA Blades if anyone wants to part with him. I have a few Joes' as well.

Might- Thanks for the love. I'd like to get a Complete group shot of the TFs, but the room they are in is a Walk in closet and the angles are "Limited". I'll get the wife's camera out sometime soon and see if I can get better angles for a full shot. I assumed you had a G1 collection as you ALWAYS have beautiful items on Ebay. Sunstreaker is cherry. Thanks again for him!

Diablein- When I send items away to AFA that I am going to keep for myself I always have them Archival Graded. I do have a bunch that I received from various sources that are NOT Archival.

Jamie- Thanks for the kind words. LMK what your Soundwave grades. I was thinking it would be around an AFA 75. The only reason I sold it is because I have another one, in slightly better condition that MAY grade an 80. Have to get him in tha mail to AFA. AFA gets expensive, but when displayed after getting them back I feel like I'm a kid in a toy store again when I walk into the display room. Man, if only we could take a trip back in time to the 80s again. Guess that room is the closest I'll get :)

Once again thank you to everyone for the positive comments (for the most part). I will keep updating pics in the next few weeks. Until then I would love to see any group shots of any AFA TFs that you all may have.

Interesting...it says "The exact process by which the overall grade is determined is unknown". The thing I didn't know was that you can send it somewhere to do that.

Personally, I love opening and playing with the figures but I do love seeing collections like these. They really do look nice when you see so many together.
