i've went through and seen all these pics of transformer collections and all these transformers on shelves and what not and im wondering.......... how do u keep ur collections dust free? i have a spare room in my house that im soon gonna unload all my transformers in, cuz right now every things in boxes. i know im gonna have dust issues and i wanna know if u guys have problems like that and if u could give me cleaning tips.

im not sure if this is the right place to post this either, so let me know about that 2 please.  

 

I know some people constantly dust their collections...but I'm lazy...when I take 'em down off the shelf to fiddle with them I'll blow the dust off lol.

 

Having a hpa paintball setup has it's advantages. I just every so often take a tank and a remote line, open the valve slightly and blow the dust off that way.

 

I have far too many to dust all at once. I take one down, clean it off, play with it, put it back... I do this nightly. I also alternate the cleaning of my shelves. One shelf a week and that can take at least three hours.

 

It's a chore if you try to make a day of it. Do a shelf a week and you'll stay on top of it.

 

I refuse to let my TFs get dusty. if they're out, they're clean. I tape a swiffer pad on the bottom side of every shelf that helps keep the dust off the figures below the pads. pad just needs to be changed every month or so. so little dust accumilates on the TFs that a few quick blasts from a can of compressed air is all it takes to keep them clean.

 

If you mean "dusting" as in whatever dust falls off when they randomly get shifted around or played with, then yes, I dust mine.

 

Yup dusting's a lot like weeding.

Glass display cases is my attempt (for my G1 and a couple of other nice pieces), even they build up a bit of dust if you give them enough time though.

 

Swiffers are your best friend. But glass doors are my trick.

 

You know, I don't have enough money for glass cases, so I usually transform them every week. I keep them in vehicle/beast/plane mode one week, then transform them back to robot mode the week after that. That helps keeping the dust from hard to reach places out.

Also, blow off the dust, rub your fingers through every part of the bot, and also I've found that a paintbrush that hasn't been used it great to take off dust from small places that no one can reach.

Try it, the paintbrush is your friend! I bought a whole set of like five different sizes.

glass cases work the best.....plus it keeps my cats out since they like knocking over transformers. they also like to play tf parts dammit

 

Scratches if you brush too hard. I just put them in plastic storage. But if you are really keen on it, plastic bags.

 

most of my tf's are in my display case but the ones that are out in the open i dust once every three months. pain in the butt  

 

I dust mine with a sock.

 

i take them all down, wipe down my shelf, brush my figs using a brush you use for make ups, a good tool to get in those nooks and crannies

 

glass cabinetts helps alot but the only way to get yoru TF dust free is to have dust covers but that will get expensiv.

I have most of my TFs packed down but since the few I have up are in glass cabinetts I dont have to dust more then once every month. It is easier if your a MIB moc collector.
