That swiffer on the shelves idea of Valkysas is genius. I gotta try that.

you know the easiest way is to keep your house hovered and dusted regularly, it keeps it from building up in the atmosphere and laying on stuff, I also have wood floors which has reduced the dust in my house to almost nothing .

prevention is better than teh cure! WOOT

Alternative idea - let the dust build up and pretend that your bots and cons are lying dormant for 4 million years inside Mount St. Hilary (as in the start of G1, 1984).

I dust mine once a month, but since I moved away from my parents place, I can only do that on the holydays.

Compressed air can, and dusting the shelves whenever I get around to it. But that Swiffer idea...fantastic. I wonder if it would work along the walls for those figures on the top shelves?

The best way is to keep them behind glass and if possible, make sure your display is sealed. However, if you already have dust on them, the best way to clean them is with an artist brush and a some compressed air. :dunce

That's exactly what I use to dust mine off, a make-up brush. My wife gave me one of her spares that she never used.

I don't see why not. the whole point is that swiffer pads suck dust up because they're charged with static electricity. Should work.

actually the original idea for my display was anti-dust based...for all I know I´m MIB/MISB/MOC/MOSC collector mainly due to dust issues...

it´s way easier to dsut TF´s while they´re in the box but it doesn´t stop it from bein´a pain in the ass...all the loose toys are in a cabinet protected from dust...it´s full proof

In the DJ Soundwave's collection thread you can find a great idea, he piled fishtanks as a replacement fo glass shelves, they are hermetic, very clean looking and relatively inexpensive.

Annual dusting day is in two weeks.... I Keep my best stuff in glass cabinets to stay clean and protected. Everything else is on custom wooden shelves that I've covered with a black velour type fabric. (Though I have started adding frosted glass shelves recently) I Find it keeps the focus on the toys not the shelf and this material hides the dust awesome. (Stuff feels like a really soft peach fuzz, 2mm long fibers) Regular shelves always drove me nuts cause I'd notice the dust on the shelf before the toy started to show any. So now, I can dust the toy, let the dust settle on the shelves and do a periodic vacuum of the shelf.

Goodness, how do you guys dust them AND line them all up nicely again? I don't have a display space (have just lost my last tiny cabinet shelf to my kids' Lego SW) but I'm actually thankful for that....

i guess i could clean a different shelf every week or so, thats a good idea. i also like the comments on compressed air cans. i would've never thought of that!
