Dragon*Con Haul 2006

Not exclusively TF stuff, but most of it is. I only went to Atlanta's Dragon*Con '06 just to hang out with an anime VA dub friend of mine, and see the dealer's room hoping to find some new TFs to add to my collection. The latter turned out to be a bust, but I still had fun. Got to chat with Space Ghost: Coast-to Coast's George Lowe and C. Martin Croker, Futurama's Billy West, got my picture taken with the Ghost Hunters guys for my wife (who was a big fan of the show at the time), met some other genre celebrities, and spent too much money on t-shirts thanks to Stylin' Online.

Pictured:

- The Princess Bride "Brute Squad" tee
- Stylin' Online's Optimus Prime Club Shirt and Decepticon jersey (my absolute favorite piece of apparel in my closet).
- Looney Tunes cast tee
- Hard Hero statues/busts of Rhinox, Shockwave, and Prime
- Brak statue, autographed by Andy Merrill
- Decepticon novelty plate. This is not an officially-licensed/endorsed TF product, but it's one of the best quality custom jobs I've ever seen and worth every penny I paid for it. Now, sadly, I'm afraid to put it on my car for fear it will be stolen. I think I still have the contact for the guy who makes these, so if anyone's interested PM me.
- 2 other TF shirts from Stylin' Online, which I still haven't worn yet.
- Misc photos and autographs from Billy West, the SGC2C guys, and anime dubber Michael Brady (Crusher Joe, Blue Submarine No. 6).

I also have close-ups of some of the above stuff at the link below, for anyone wanting to see a little more detail:

Finally getting around to taking more photos of my collection and hauls going back as far as 2006. I'll be adding some here periodically as I have time to do so.

Here's a very recent haul -- just last week I met up with the noted customizer Encline who hooked me up with a Masterpiece Megatron and a TFA Wreck-Gar (in exchange for cash and a MISB Cybertron Metroplex):

So happy to finally have a TFA Wreck-Gar -- I hunted for months with no luck due to local scalpers apparently seizing most of them:

MP Megatron was everything I hoped it would be, and more...although I was expecting it to weigh a little more:

Some really great accessories with this figure. And a really pleasant surprise was the bonus little Kremzeek! figure:

And here's a couple shots of a set of two TF G1 pillowcases (circa 1985-ish) that my wife found in October 2008 for only a $1 at a thrift store near Helen, GA. And if it weren't for the thread snag in one of them, they're in such great condition I wonder if they were ever even used.

Yard sale haul from August 2007 (sale hosted by TFW member VaporwareII):

The haul in a box:

Group shot:

Pictured: Powermaster Optimus Prime, Power Rangers White Ranger Tigerzord, Beast Wars Optimus Primal, Pretender Grimlock, Universe Cybershark, Predacons Headstrong and Razorclaw, G1 Grimlock, Transmetal Tarantulas, G1 Gnaw, Overkill and Slugfest, Action Master Soundwave.

Got all of the above in a trade for an Alternators Rumble and Ravage. There were also some other misc items not pictured that were included in the haul, including some Toyfare back issues, various TF parts and weapons, and a little transforming oddity: egg into a robot T-Rex that very much resembled Grimlock. I ended up giving the eggformer to my friend Shawn who collects Dinobot toys.

Some close-ups:

At first, I was disappointed that Powermaster Prime didn't have the diecast in it that I remembered from the original my brother jon3pnt0 used to own. And for a brief moment, I feared I'd been conned into buying a bootleg until I found the copyright stamp inside the leg dated 1987 Takara, which I believe means it's the earlier Japanese version of the 1988 US release.

I was never interested much in Power Rangers and don't collect them either, but I thought the Tigerzord was kinda nifty and VaporwareII threw it in the deal as a freebie:

For a long time, I thought these next two transforming Toy Story 2 "Mega Morpher" Buzz Lightyear toys from 1999 were a myth. I read online reports that they were Disney parks exclusives, but I could never actually find someone who said they owned one.

To date, I have verified that there were at least 4 different figures produced (3 of Buzz, 1 of Zurg), and apparently one variant of Buzz.

In recent years, they started showing up for sale on ebay and amazon, so I was finally able to get more details on them. An amazon seller currently has the "deluxe" Buzz reportedly MISB for $200.

Here's the first one I discovered at a flea market in the spring of 2007 and purchased for $1 -- it's the first one that was released as well.

And before anyone asks, I plan to reshoot some of these pictures since at the time they were taken I didn't know how to transform it correctly. Also need to take an overhead shot of the vehicle mode, and add a couple TFs in the shot so you can see the scale.

"To infinity...and beyond!"

Leg detail (or not, since it's out of focus):

Vehicle mode:

I'll add the gallery of the other Buzz toy later.

This next gallery is the 1999 "Toy Story 2 Mega Morpher Techno Gear Buzz Lightyear (module III)." I have no idea what the "module III" stands for -- it's what I saw on the package in an ebay photo.

I need to reshoot these pics as as well -- a little too fuzzy and the lighting is too harsh in some. I think there might be another alt mode too.

I actually like this design and color scheme more than the original even though it's not Buzz's movie colors. Just something about it that's more aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

I scored this one @ a thrift store in the fall of 2008 for a grand total of $2.12, and I believe I got another 50% off that price as well. You'll see the price I paid is still on it in one of the pics below.
