I just started collecting in early July 2015. Earlier this year I saw the amazing stop motion video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Byu0jiDKnbY, and through that, saw the most amazing Megatron I'd ever seen (Apollyon). And of course all of the other Masterpiece's that brought my childhood to life! I waited for Apollyon to actually come out and came in to some extra cash so decided to start my collection! I asked what I should look for and started documenting my arrivals here: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-toy-discussion/1046950-next-masterpiece-purchase.html, but figured I should move it to the proper forum! So here we go! My first arrival, and of course the most important! I quickly delved into 3P! Soundwave was always a must have! Ready to complete my Dinobots! After just over a week, I think my collection was looking pretty decent! Phase 2 has started! I've got a couple more enroute, then it's a long wait till September for my next preorders.
Haha, yeah, they're a bit outnumbered right now! Quakewave and TT Devastator are on pre-order, and I hope to get the new Starscream and Thundercracker...hope they announce a new Skywarp before I break down and spend $200 on the current one! I want one of the Insecticon and Reflector sets, but not sure which yet. Also starting to get very tempted by the XT Cyclonus and Scourge. There's just not a lot of selection!
Wow, moving quick! Megatron (MX-I) is also what pulled me back into collecting. No way I could pass up on that and so it begins the spiral
I had to break my MP-only collection for the one set of guys I always wanted as a kid and never completed! (any wonder I joined the Air Force?!) Yeah, they're a little bit of a let-down after going MP, but they still make me giddy! Oh I did get a new MP too! Also breaking my no dupes rule...but he just looks so nice. I'm afraid his paint job is ruined already though from putting the jetpack on. I don't even want to try taking it off.
Finally got my display cabinet! I have mixed feelings about the Fabrikor, but it's better than nothing! See my thoughts on it here: Not-Detolf Display Cases Thread A mid-level shot that shows the best of the cabinet (except the glare!): From eye-level, about 4 feet away: Side views: Season 1/2 Autobot shelf: Decepticon / Season 3 shelf: Dinobots and Superion (yeah I know, but I love him!): Hard to believe I got all of these guys in the space of about 3 weeks!
That is my kind of collection. I don't buy a lot of the Generation stuff myself, but I love that Combiner Wars Superion. You can actually get a couple of Upgrade sets from Perfect Effect to make him look more G1 accurate, and spin the legs around as well.
