Does TF:A have any original transformers?

Does TF:A have any original characters or have they introduced a character that we've heard of but never seen in a cartoon before? Or is TF:A all just remakes/knockoffs of transformers from previous generations?

I'm not talking about the human characters, I'm talking about the actual transforming robots.

There's Bulkhead (name used before but different character than previous assigned names), Lugnut (again variation of the name (Lugnutz) have been used but not same character), Lockdown. Off the top of my head that's all I can think of.

Sentinel Prime is almost a new character.

Previous Sentinel Prime have not done much other than be mentioned and die.
Plus this Sentinel Prime doesn't have a lot in common with his namesake other than he holds the rank "Prime".

I think one of the TFA animators mentioned that Hasbro wanted alot of G1 incarnations in Season 1 and 2 but gave them thumbs up for more original characters in Season 3 so I think we will see more original characters.

Lugnut, Bulkhead, LongArm, Lockdown, Oil Slick and Sentinel are all pretty much 100% original except names.

Also Eric said that they're pretty much done with all homages in TFA, so we'll probably see alot more originality!

More all-new characters: do want.
There may be no peace for the wicked, but the righteous can damn well get a piece whenever they feel like it.

It's just... alot more satisfying(sp?) when instead of going "WOW AWESOME G1" we go "THAT GUY LOOKS FREAKING AWESOME YEAAAAAAAH!"

one of the things i loved in beast wars was that they used all new characters and dindt rely on an allready set fan base to sell the show. Its nice to hear animated will get to create some more of thier own characters so they can have thier own legacy

When you've been around as long as Transformers has, you tend to run out of names and characters without unintentionallycreating a clone of an already made one.

Technically, all the characters are original, since very few share the exact same personality as their namesake. (And those who are very much like their namesake's core personality, like Starscream for example, are still different enough to avoid being a carbon copy)

Also, the proper term is "homage", dude.

Animated is pure WIN. You are not.
