Because he's way too teeny tiny, like Universe Galvatron. So he stays on the shelf and warms pegs.

Yeah, and how come they are making a new variant out of a pegwarmer? If anything, give us Deluxe Cliffjumper.

I heard that Leader Lugnut will come packaged with a special reinforced brace specifically to shore up toy collector's display shelfs.

Lugnut isn't a pegwarmer around here-- he sells at a moderate rate, about the same as Voyager Prime or Cybertron Mode Megatron. Slower than Grimlock or Blitzwing, but faster than Bulkhead, that's for sure.

Of course, this is just anecdotal evidence, but then again so is yours.

Can we stop calling boxed transformers "pegwarmers".
Unless they do somehow put them on pegs where you live.
http://www.tfwiki.net - I'm a pepper! Wouldn't you like to be a pepper, too?

And here we have an apparent contradiction.

Ultra Magnus is a "big guy", while Lugnut is a second tier character because he doesn't get alot of screen time.

If memory serves, Lugnut has easily gotten twice the screen time that Ultra Magnus has, and even when Magnus did show up, he didn't exactly do anything that makes me think he was deserving of a Leader class toy other than talking and getting shot in the face.
And if that's all it takes to get a Leader, then why can't we get Leaders of EVERYONE. Kiddies would eat up Leader Bumblebee, right?

Anyone who says Lugnut's not worht getting because he's not in a show accurate scale needs a knock upside the head. And I know because I used to be one of those people. But my love for Lugnut won out in the end, and I'm glad it did. Lugnut is probably the best made toy in the Animated line
I support The Reflector Trio for ANIMATED, UNIVERSE, ENCORE, ROBOT HEROES and anything else Hasbro or Takara can dish out!

Wait. We're all forgetting something here.
If Bulkhead was small in the voyager box, and Lugnut turned out even smaller, then what's stopping Leader Lugnut being slightly smaller then Leader Bulkhead, because of his arm width?
I think Leader Bulkhead should be a Supreme class toy, but in leader style, the good size compared to Leader Bulkhead and packaged with Voyager Blitzwing. Because main chars are repeated throughout the waves, right? This would suck up new fans, please collectors, and best of all, come out at Christmas. So kids will get it(Read: Parents will forcifully get it because their kids want it), because they want 'The big bad guy to smush up their good guys'. Awesome!

At 19.99 Lugnuts sell decently in my area but still can find them all over though. At 39.99 Lugnut is a shelf warmer. Bulkhead is a shelf warmer in every store I go in and he's one of the main characters. Personally I think they made a huge mistake with that one as the voyager one sells alot better from what I have seen. I've seen some stores with 8 Bulkheads and No Megatrons in Leader class.

Animated just isn't flying off the shelves like I thought it would. Walmarts in my area have already put price points on Deluxes at $7.77 to try and move them and they are still not selling. Maybe Christmas will help some.
