You need to PM MAIDEN JAPAN on here to get on his preorder list. I would hurry though as he is only making 100 sets, 15 are gone already and Im sure his list is pretty long for preorders too.

I found the reason that head color looks off because the blue plastic color that used on SDCC Soundwave is slightly darker than Encore reissues and original G1. I used Encore reissue ver. for color references. Therefore the color is not matching if you put it on SDCC version.
The picture you see on bottom is Encore version Soundwave.

First off i'll say i'm a big fan of the set and I like them a lot - if I had the money to spare I'd consider them very seriously. As Soundwave and Frenzy was If I recall correctly one of the 1st Decepticons I ever bought, (Might have got Thundercracker the week before though).

Though at first I was struggling to think of a purpose for the new Soundwave head It seems a lot less essential to me than a decent Blaster head would be for Universe Blaster for example.

But I guess it does serve to differentuate a 'Classics' Soundwave from a G1 Soundwave, other than that though i'm fumbling in the dark for a reason for it being in the set with the Pile Drivers.

That said and my perplexity aside - those Pile drivers do seem much better than the ones that the other chaps making - they look nicer and suit the characters more in size and shape I feel.

But looking at them I've just had an "Idea" - why not make them exactly the same size as Soundwave's Weapons batteries so when Soundwave is in Robot mode you can store them in his faux Battery compartment - and technically they'd also transform... perhaps even a little + & - could be scribed into them to add to the effect.

Might be an idea worth pursuiting anyway.

    [P.s]

Do the Pistons retract at all ?

Yes the pistons can retract completely.

The only issue I would have with your "battery" idea is that Soundwave's Weapons already are his batteries. Where would those be stored??

Also there are 4 total piledrivers - two for each bot, Soundwave only has room for two batteries.

Yeah, it is pretty damned sweet, isn't it? :D

The quality on these customs is some of the best I've ever seen. The fit is perfect.

Oh my God, those are incredible. Too bad he's only making 100 and they're $50. Seriously, if MAIDEN JAPAN released more of them for slightly cheaper... he'd make a killing. The demand for those would be huge. If he made a 2nd run and sold them for $30-35, I would buy them in an instant.
