This is the review for the KBB Double Oversized AoE Hound. This thing is spectacular. Here is my review of the original OS mold. This will be an expansion on that.

The biggest difference is the bigness. It’s certainly the largest Leader Class movieverse figure that exists as far as bot modes go. I know some people will say that he’s too big. If you’re going by the movies, then yes, in robot mode, he stands taller than Optimus which doesn’t really work. However, he’s perfect in vehicle mode, so you might have to split some beard hairs there. If you're a OS KO Evasion Mode Optimus fan, I bet this will scale perfectly with him.

There have been several improvements to the mold as well as a ridiculous amount of value added with the pack-in of the oversized Dr. Wu DW-M02 Mercenary upgrade kit.

    1. My fat ass is stuck - Hell Yeah. He’s gigantic, beefy, well designed and solid. There’s so much plastic and metal here, you’d think this thing would cost a fortune. But it’s so reasonably priced, that it’s insane to not just go buy this now. Having an in-scale vehicle mode to go along with an exaggerated robot mode is a sacrifice I’m willing to make.

    2. (Not) Out of guns, (Not) out of ideas. - You get this in the box. For free. So, you can either go with super muscular, in-shape Hound, or fat-ballerina Hound. It’s really great as maybe that’s how he looked before the war, and then after when he let himself go. He's got two smoke grenades, two regular grenades, a couple of extra rounds and a satchel belt. It looks pretty good on him, but I probably won't be attaching it most of the time. It's great that it's included, however.

    3. Look Ma, Hands! - They engineered a great solution to the knuckle dusters, so now you get his new modeled hands. This is an improvement that would justify a re-purchase all by itself, IMO. It’s not done half-assed either. It’s a well-engineered, stable and clever solution. Also, the Wei Jiang version doesn't have the stubs inside the hands like this version. So, they actually hold the weapons very well.

    4. Boom Time - Everything that was great about Wei Jiang’s knockoff is still here. All the guns and weapons and all the die cast are here. They even took the time to improve some things here, too. The shoulder joints appear to be ratcheted now, and there are new ratcheted elbow joints as well. It makes it a lot easier to hold up the big, combined gun now. There are additional tabs in several places as well. The plastic quality is absolutely top of the line. This is NOT KO plastic. This is as solid as any Hasbro/Takara mold I have. Absolutely solid.

    5. Taking Scalps - His face has a new mold with the cigar. This is a vast improvement. This really brings almost everything that is Hound to the toy. Grenades and all.

Now that I've had a day to look/play. Here are some downsides:

    1. Weapon storage - There are some issues with stowing some of the weapons. On mine, the big mini-gun has a tab on the right side that is supposed to hold one of the shotguns. It's too fat right now, so you really have to jam the guy in there. I can probably shave down some plastic to get it to fit as well as the Wei Jiang version does.

Some of the holes on his calves and various places are two big to hold the knife. I can probably nail polish them to get them to hold it.

    2. All about bad ideas - The story on the box is basically the opposite of movieverse Hound. It's pretty funny, actually, as it's probably meant for the traditional spin on the character.

    Bottom line:

Even if you have a problem with scale, this is now the best AoE figure available; Hasbro, Takara or otherwise. The amount of toy that you’re getting for the cost is absolutely insane. Order from SirToys as soon as you can. Even if you don’t like the movie aesthetic, this might be the perfect Transformer.

Oh good lord this is fantastic.

Any chance you could put him next to AOE Leader Prime in both modes?

Also, where do the forearm/hand flaps end up?

I'm really sorry, but I don't have an AoE Prime! Any other requests?

The flaps are connected to grey plastic pieces that attach to his back kibble and flip over his shoulders. It stows away perfectly, and it really is the perfect solution. That is, no parts-forming at all.

Someone hasn't seen the AoE Evasion Prime by Wei Jiang yet. That's the perfect Transformer.

Smashs, I have this guy coming. Will take photos with AoE Leader Prime when he arrives.

Thanks! I'm betting this scales perfectly with the WJ Eva Prime.

Oh, I was following that closely. But, for me, he's out of scale too much, too many faux parts forming the chest and the hip ratchets are a problem reportedly. But, I do agree, that thing is a marvel. It was really fun watching evolve from a picture by some modder to a full-blown shipment.

Plus, I just really prefer the ROTF-based Prime molds.

Hopefully they do one, it would be cool if they did MPP-10 as Diaclone Prime

IMO, yes. Bigger, no flames, no mittens, Dr. Wu upgrade, cigar. You could probably offload your Wei Jiang one pretty easily.

I actually kind of dig the idea of him being bigger than Prime.

I think I'm going to pull the trigger on this one. I'm glad I decided to hold out on the first OS KO as it was a tad too small in my opinion. This one looks great.

Is the whole beard painted. From the images it looks like just the lower part is painted. I gotta look at this and the new Wei Jiang version to see which to get. This is pretty cool.
