So with the photo reveals of the new upcoming Hasbro combiners....we all know that the upgrade sets are going to come from every direction.
What company would you like to see do an upgrade set for these figures?
Given the 2 we've seen, which do you feel is more in need of an upgrade set?

I personally don't really like what I see, but than again, 3rd party has spoiled me when it comes to combiners, but take the FOC Bruticus for example. I didn't really like the looks of that either. But now there are several upgrades to make that figure look leaps and bounds beyond it's original design.....
so with that being said...do you feel with the proper upgrade set that any of these Hasbro combiners could compare to 3rd party, obviously not in engineering, but overall look/aesthetic?

Just wanted to open this up for comments and debates

I wouldn't buy any. Do you guys really want to continue "upgrading" Hasbro combiners?

I'd rather they continue investing money into new combiners. Preferable MT and FP scale ones.

It really just depends on the upgrade. I would be open to ideas if they are done well like Microblaze's Bruticus upgrade. Sure beats spending $400-500 on a full third party one. Why would that be so bad when we have companies making "upgrades" for other third party figures like new heads and such.

Before we ask this question, let's go back and look at the before and after price of hasblow bruticus + FP add-ons and there are more great 3P combiners coming up.

If we see anything it will likely come from groups like microblaze or new groups. The big guys that have been making their own I dont see going back and doing upgrades.

Well we need a real Wildrider instead of 'Offroad' the offroad jeep.
Also, needs a new gestalt mode noggin

So I would say almost certainly, or so I hope^^

Given that both combiners have a single 'new guy' limb with a new name, I'm guessing that the fifth member missing from each team will arrive later, likely as a recolor of one of the existing members, possibly with a new accessory or something of that nature. That makes adding involved geewunny accessories risky, since there's no telling what Hasbro may swoop in with before any 3P thing can be brought to market.

I think the Hasbro Superion looks pretty good actually. I was expecting some mess like we got w/ FOC Bruticus.

If I was to want any 3rd party upgrade for the Aerialbots it would be a proper Slingshot and maybe have someone redo the fists and feet.

As for the Hasbro Menasor they need to take the combine mode and just redesign it. I don't even think a 3rd party company can fix that mess.

Gonna have to wait and see until they come out to really know what needs to be fixed... besides that Menasor head.

As I said in another thread I'm going to sell FP Menasor and replace him with the official one.

For the price of the FP set there is too many niggling issues. I can forgive limitations in a $70-100 combiner but not $350-$500 one.

I almost forgot that to be a *real* 3P fan you've gotta hate "HAZBLOW".

    ----

I think we'll definitely see head/hands/feet sets, and maybe replacement limbs. Maybe chest shields and weapons too. And if people don't like the changed limbs someone might do those as well.

I might want new feet for Menasor, his are a little small for him. Maybe a new head too...

Considering EchoTF's kit, or Microblaze's Onslaught can fix the flaws of a much cheaper combiner... YES. It's a very cost effective measure that also has collector's value due to being upgrades to official figures.

    Back to topic...

We can already tell that the smaller limbs *will* be repainted retooled a few times. (The Copter Aerialbot is clearly Vortex in 'Bot colors). New heads will be needed for more accuracy. Additionaly or alternatively, retooled/remolded bots might be nice for those that can't stand "Alpha Bravo" or Slingshot being a Helicopter.

Menasor's head needs improvement. Optimus Prime's main head is fugly. New heads for both.

Generic hands feet would go a long way for these figures... as Hasbro took the Gun <-> Hand/Feet route again. They're not as bad as the Energon ones... but face it... you'll want nice articulate hands/feet.

If the new IDW Devastator is made (one that is Scoop-less)... We'd have to see if they stick to the Headmaster setup. If they don't... folks are going to want replacements in the form of Prowl and possibly Megatron.

    So yea... LOOOOTTSSS of options.

I will bet $5 that Dr. Wu will make new hands and feet for these.

    Just one. A blow torch.

Hasbro is taking an extremely simplistic approach to combiners. Based in the recent pics from sdcc, it is apparent the designers are more focused in individual bit and altmodes and sacrificing the overall combiner look.

Perhaps 3rd party combiners have spoiled me a bit in my expectations, but I really think Hasbro needs to take a look at what others are doing and try to either emulate it or make it better.

Compared to current 3 rd party combiners, Hasbro is taking a few steps backwards.

I think many of us would prefer to pay $20 for a deluxe and $40 for a voyager combiner figure if done right. So far, Hasbro has missed the boat IMO.

Menasor needs a new head, hands and feet. Heck he kinda needs an entire new torso and wildrider too. Honestly I think he's too flawed for upgrades to be worthwhile for any company as even some basic parts would only be a minor fix as his biggest problem is how the torso looks and it looks real bad.

Superion though, absolute lost cause, I don't like anything about it, entire thing needs a redo.
