I'd purchased an extra Henkei Prime & SDCC Nemesis years ago for this very possibility. I'd been curious about the Xovergen set but can now pass on those in favor of this and hoping/expecting a Nucleon Quest/black version as well. Awesome.

The truck depicted is classics/Henkei Prime!

It took me a while to see it but it's wearing the armor add on

Looks like an extensions for the front and top of the cab as well as covering the rear blue leg parts

If you look carefully you can see the leg panels from classics prime folded back in truck mode

    Ingenius

They should consider matching the colors to the upcoming Evolution 2-Pack Prime... considering he'll be the readily available Classics Prime soon... versus Classics or Henkei, which are harder to get at this point...

No the truck in the renders is not classics prime. Its based on the basic structure of the classics prime mold but it is not the exact same mold. The lower legs are the only part they seem to have not bothered to change much but the rest of him is very different.

However the actual figure wearing the armor in the photos is indeed just a classics prime, specifically the sdcc nemesis version.

    Just to clarify further;
photos - classics prime in new armor
render - fp's new prime figure heavily based on the classics mold

    This means two things:

FP's figure and classics prime can wear this new armor set and potentially their new prime can probably wear the old city comm sets as well. It depends how much of their mold is different in regards to attachment points, kibble and specific shapes where the old armor parts had to sit on but I imagine they want citycomm armor to continue selling well as it always has so it'll likely have that retroactive compatibility just as MT is doing with their new armor/g2 prime figures.

^ Just hope that IF they make a retooled Prime... it's not as kibbly... the MT-retooled figure has such annoying shoulder pads, IMHO.

kinda lame if you ask me. they kept that arm kibble and basic transformation....from teh 2006ish toy that has looked dated for a while now. then thye added thier own bits to it...ala MT for g2 prime. i'm sure someone will like it. its not me.

Are you 100% sure? I dug out my Henkei Prime and i'm staring at the Powerpoint slides and i am seeing a TON of details between the two the are the same. I think there's a giant red shell that goes around the cab, and then lots of blue armor for the rear.

EDIT: I dont have Photosho but maybe I can do something in paint. Standby . . .

We'll reserve judgement until we see the finished product in all modes. Looks so-so as is.

Ok here goes, this is quick and dirty:

Also check out the gap left by the blue panels being folded back to the cover the rear wheels: perfect space for those bigass gray boxing gloves

Nope, the render is actually classics Prime with the armor on it. TJ Duckett says as much in this post and 4 posts before it. http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-3rd-party-discussion/994102-fansproject-items-display-tfcon-2014-a-2.html#post11321081

What's amazing is that evidently the figure can transform without removing the armor, so it's like creating a new figure with a different alt and bot mode. One tell that the figures in the pic and render are the same is the chest/windshield.

I could see this going either way. Maketoys made a smart move when they made their own distinctive yet compatible version of the G2 Laser Prime figure, and it would really free up Fansproject's release schedule and deco choices to not be dependent on Hasbro and/or Takara having a suitable core figure on the market. (For example, I bet they could sell MANY more repaints of this in the Fire Guts scheme if one were not forced to track down a Botcon Ginrai figure.)

That said, Hasbro is just putting out yet another release of the Classics mold in Optimus colors, albeit as part of a TRU two-pack exclusive.

(and of course there's Cloud Prime in Japan, but that isn't general release either. To be fair, both City and Nemesis Commander were for exclusive repaints.)

The thin wheels aren't really doing it for me. They looked out of place especially in bot mode.

This is all going to depend on how the trailer looks, and whether it can integrate all of the main figure's gear, because while the robot mode looks decent and more stable than City Commander, that combined truck mode looks horrible.

Kind of a necessity though, the way they over around Prime's existing wheels. Without making an absurdly wide looking truck mode, anyways.

The one thing I really dislike about this would be oven mitt hands. The wheels are passable, methinks (though they could thicken a bit I imagine)... but those hands... IDK.

Speaking of exclusives... they would also be well-served if they re-released the DIA Commander sporting some of that shiny chrome... would look quite dandy given the chrome placement on Evo 2-Pack Prime's thighs.

I really was hoping and expecting way more from FP on this looks bland and not interesting.
