I'm happy enough with the Botcon version of Deszaras, but I could definitely do with the red version of this upgrade. Been meaning to pick up Budora for the longest time, but was not really a fan of his stock head. The fact that this works as a Brave homage is a great bonus.

This isn't a full figure, it's an upgrade to turn the target exclusive predacons rising Darksteel ( which by itself is a straight repaint of Grim wing) into the Decepticon leader from TF Victory. What you get is the new head and weapon.

 

Not that I'm complaining, but why so Expensive?

The reprolabels set was free.
20.00 for just a head is a bit much.
10.00 for the weapon I can understand due to the size of it, which is an amazing deal. but 20.00 for a small head is a bit on the Cray side.

Also, I did order both the gun and the gun w/ head just so you know.  

I just thought it's a bit much is all.

Great question. The Reprolabels was free, but not free for Reprolabels themselves. Why they offered it for free? I don't know, but there would of been lots of cost involved on their end.

As for Renderform products, there is a lot of time and money spent to make these. Obviously, each kit doesn't magically appear at will.   I've always priced my items based on repro-resin castings, others offer. But when you look at what those costs, it actually makes my items cheaper. With a repro parts, the original part being used to create the molds is something someone either already has from an existing figure, or was lent. For my items, I have to make the part from scratch, and the process is not easy, and is costly. Renderform products is created in a method, between home made garage kits (if you know about how the average Joe does that) and factory manufacturing. At times, my items are cheaper or on par with Shapeways made items. And thats considering Renderform products are ready to go out of the package, minus any installation needed. Shapeways products have to be hand painted, and you have to buy additional material, like paint and brushes, if you don't have it. Plus, the quality of Renderform products are close to factory made, then what Shapeways offers.   If I sold this kit through shapeways, as is with the CAD designs, it would cost a lot more for sure.

I've also matched the price of 3rd party kits in the past for similar items, like my Goldbug upgrade kit, which sold for $30, the same price as the Beelzeboss kit. And my set came with an extra gun.

As for the pricing of the Death Czar kit, the head is a $15.00 value, and each gun is also a value of $15.00. The extra gun is a special deal, for those wanting it. So I priced it at $10.00, to make it a deal.

In the end, my products maybe costly for some, but I choose projects 3rd party companys won't bother with, as there is such a small market. And those who want these items, don't have a problem with the pricing, as they understand the nature of it, and the time and effort that goes into making it possible. Seeing how the Target Darksteel can be now found as little as $6, with this Renderform kit, and the reprolabels, you can have a Deathsaurus figure for under $50. A full brand new 3P design would probably cost you $100 on the low end.

Invoices are being worked on. I'm not in a hurry to get people to pay me right away, as I'm fine tuning the designs and remaking the production molds. But I hope to finish invoicing everyone in the next day or so. If you have your confirmation email, when you ordered, that is all you really need at this point, as it confirms your order is in the system.  

 

What is required by reprolabels to get their sticker set? Do I just have to send them a picture of my Dark Steel, or do I have to buy something as well?

 

that's a good question..especially now hearing it's free. i was planning on ordering a couple sets from them anyway...

Well that sucks, I only just heard about it like yesterday. Reprolabels needs a newsletter or something if they're going to run specials.

Someone just returned a clearanced Darksteel at my Target a few days ago. Priced at $9.99. Maybe it's a sign for me to jump on board? Haha

with the release of this head you would think reprolabels would make this available. it seems stupid not to given this upgrade just created demand for it.

 

exactly what i said man...cool that they did a promotion but what if someone saw this thread went to a target was lucky to find the figure the preordered the head but can't complete it without the sticker set. i think if anything they should extend the freebie promotion on it or offer it to people that ordered the head and gun set.

 

well, renderform isn't part of reprolabels so offering it just to folks who order this head might be difficult to get going. The free stuff from their forums usually isn't sold on the site either is the bad thing. My point was that they COULD sell it and actually have a bigger market for it now with Darksteel going on clearance and this head kit popping up. Reprolabels obviously already has it set up to make so i don't think it would be that tough for them to just say "here it is"

 

i know they're not a part of eachother i was just saying that since renderform puts out the head kit reprolabels should offer up the stickers. id even pay for them they just complete the look of the figure so well and by the time i learned they were doing the giveaway it was over.
