Do you disassemble and reassemble your combiners and play with them?

Just what the title asks. I have been messing with some of my combiners as of late, and I am tempted to take them apart, but just haven't.

As some already know, I feel like the individual pieces of the combiner is better the combiner as a whole. So I have been tempted to just showcase them individually (and play with them that way.)

Just wondering if you guys are doing that at all? Or do you pretty much combine them and take their transformation cogs away?

Time to time. For me the appeal of a combiner is the gestalt, so that's the form they spend most of their time in.

The FP Stunticons have a ton of character and I really like them as a team so I break them down a lot more often.

Every once in a while I do. I agree that the parts of a combiner can be just as awesome as the combined mode. Collosus, Green Giant, and Uranos help this a lot. :)

the TFC areal bots are awesome as individuals. I'm currently displaying them as a group.

I think it really matters how much one wants to enjoy/fidget with the individual bots of any particular set which is a more personal choice.

Unlike PlanckEpoch above though I find the FP stunticons harder to transform in comparison (over engineered) and therefore just leave them as a combiner where they get fiddled with far less. Why? Because its too much work to do all of them when i just want a 2 to 7 minute ADHD puzzle.

For others, aesthetics and nostalgia for certain characters will also likely factor in.

If it were more fun and quicker to take apart and put back together.

I like the idea of combiners but in practice as a toy, they are not fun to mess with.

I would love to see a better execution of the PCC idea, with more sophisticated limbs, but with the idea that combining and uncombining is more dynamic and fun.

I too like to display the individual figures as it is such a shame to waste all that engineering only to fold it up and leave it.

My combiners will probably be combiners for life. Green Giant went right out of the box, snapped together and put on the shelf. My TFC Perseus is the same. Neither one has ever seen individual robot modes or alt modes.

i like seeing the individual bots modes, especially on uranos, but i don't think i have transformed him back to individual bots since i got him together. not saying i won't, but so far i haven't. same thing with hercules… i try to take it easy on all my tf and this is just one more aspect of that. i don't transform any of my figures that much really. bot modes rule my displays.

I want to, but some of them are just not fun to disassemble/reassemble. I used to be very dismissive about the simplicity of the G1 combiners, but you can go to any mode within minutes so you can reconstruct any scenes from the cartoon easily. I mean try doing that with some of the 3rd party combiners and you can imagine the rest of the characters in the scene just whistling waiting for the combination to finish.

Every once in a while, and that goes for official HasTak stuff too. I simply love the combiner concept ever since I was a kid and assemblying disassemblying is part of the fun, IMHO.

Yes! Exactly. I think there could be a balance between Power Core and 3rd Party combiner concepts.

I don't want the limbs to be drones, BUT I think they could be simpler with the torso being the most complex in terms of transformation.

Would love to see an evolution of the idea, while PCC was terrible in execution, I think they were evolving the concept.

ooh, not for me fellas. PCC was great for my son, I wouldn't touch the stuff myself… though that dinobots combiner was tempting because of the G1 paint. I'm good taking my time in transformation if it reflects high quality design on their end. just have your combiners call a timeout before they transform. :)

Yes. I screw around with them in all modes. A combiner needs to be competent in all modes for me to consider picking them up in the first place.. The easier and less hassle it is to change modes, the more frequently I do it.

M3 is a pain in the ass so they stay mostly in bot modes though.

I prefer to have 5/6 toys rather than 1 big one.

I did with TFC Devastator a few times, but haven't in quite some time now. The only time I usually mess with my stuff is when I get ready to clean them.

I plan on displaying Warbotron as individuals rather than as a combiner as long as they fit in okay with my other MP figures.

Well, I think that is the beauty of G1 as a whole. Not just combiners.

Same. For me I bought them just for the combined aspect of the figure. In between figures and delays is long enough for me to mess with and display as individuals. Combiner for life.
