Why? Generations rocks!

 

This is the sort of thing people would have gone wild over if we didn't already have a pretty good Hasbro offering that's far lower in cost then this would be. It might have appeal if it has a proper city mode of course, but then the question is if that's really worth it. Especially with the wonky proportions of the robot mode, with the only improvements there the double elbows and ankle joints.

 

Oh MY god that thing is sick. Geezus it makes the gen figure look like a joke. Oh man I wonder how big he is and who's making it for that matter.

 

Hope it has a good city/base mode. Couldn't be any worse than Hasbro's effort. Can't believe how badly they goofed that thing.

 

He has a strong resemblance to FoC metro, wonder if its the same guys that teased that other one months ago.

 

How come people ask why? hmm....Hasbro's is pretty weak but I wouldn't buy Metroplex either way because no company will do him justice due to size alone! however, This looks more appropriate to be Metroplex

 

That's not bad at all but I don't think I could justify the price to myself or my wife.

 

Okay, not sure if anyone is going to update the FIRST post, but I can at least update a very early post...

This toy is called MBC-002 City Bot Utopia, made by Maketoys. First appeared as a prototype on ACtoys in December 2013... it was unnamed and we didn't know who was making it.

Current rumor is that this is maybe Hercules or Genesis size, that it combines with Maketoys Armageddon in base mode, that it costs $300-400, and that it comes with a little red Utopia holo avatar.

If they really want to impress people they need to enter their third party Metroplex in the Metroplex Holding Stuff thread. If he can hold his own there people will buy it.

 

That looks great! How big is it and how much will it cost?

 

Needs a mode that actually looks like a City and then we'll talk.

 

Make it BIG and I'm in.  

 

I'm honestly happy with any size that's a bit bigger than the G1 toy. Maybe the same size as G1 Trypticon.

Oh, and make sure it has spots for the Scramble City guys to add on!

 

But G1 Metroplex was the same size as Trypticon. They stand roughly the same height, Trypticon has more mass from that tail though.

 

I agree we need a city mode reveal first... Before I divorce anyone for this metroplex. Thank god I haven't signed any papers yet!!

 

Yeah, Trypticon is about a centimeter taller, but much bulkier with the tail. I guess I should say make Metroplex the size of G1 Trypticon, not just the height.

 

Looks nice and the hands look like they hide inside the forearms, can't wait to see how much it will cost and size. I was disappointed with the Generations Metroplex

Seriously, they should have made a Trypticon to go against HasTak Metroplex instead. This 3P looks neat but the company is taking a huge risk attempting to release this when a perfectly good Metroplex already exists, further dividing their target market.
