For sure! My understanding of it is as follows.

If you believe Slag should be slightly taller than Grimlock and the alt mode should be beefier, get Cesium.

If you believe Slag should be slightly shorter than Grimlock, and the alt mode should be slimmer, get Scoria.

TMReviews' video gets in the minutiae of it quite well, and assesses how Cesiums alt mode is less solid while the overall presentation is more toon accurate. So it's compromises either way.

For me, I got Scoria for a very reasonable price on the aftermarket, and enjoy the idea of him being shorter and angrier. Case closed.

Honestly for what Cesium costs? No. (And I say this as someone who HAS ONE FOR SALE)

Cesium looks more show accurate. scoria fits in with the rest of the Dibots better visually. Cesium has weird articulation (I HATE the shoulders) and just generally feels cheaper than FT products, scoria has a more premium feel. I also feel like Cesium is a little too _big_. Slag should not be bigger than Grimlock IMO. However Cesium manages the Dino kibble way better in bot mode than Scoria does.

But honestly they’re both great figures so if you really, REALLY like the look of cesium better go for it. I just think a lot of folks (me included) thought it would be a slam dunk as being a true upgrade, that we’d get rid of Scoria once we had it in hand, and the fact is it isn’t like that. Ultimately my Scoria is on my shelf and Cesium is for sale. If you just end up getting whichever one is easier to acquire you’ll be good. If I’d gotten Cesium first I’m pretty sure I’d have been happy.

The Scoria/Cesium debate is all well and good, but, unfortunately, it all comes down to the fact that while Scoria is rare, Cesium is rarer than an octopus with a beard, an antique ivory monocle, and several dozen bars of nazi gold stashed in its attic.

Thanks guy, I'll probably stick with Scoria, especially since I don't want to go fishing for a bearded octopus lol

I finally found Scoria for a good price on eBay. He’s in really good condition but the jaw is really loose on the Dino head. It is not the joint moving the mouth up and down but the one that is attached to the head. It is a double joint here. I tightened the mouth joint but that doesn’t address the looseness. It looks like tiny pins only that connect the jaw to the head. Is there a way to tighten this? Is this a common issue or did I just get unlucky?

OK, so I may have made a very unwise purchase recently...

So yeah... Cesium. Not perfect by a long shot, definitely feels cheaper (oh the irony) than Scoria, but putting him with the other FT Dinobots was like finally slotting the last piece of a puzzle into place. Is it worth the current prices? No, not at all. But finally, FINALLY completing my Dinobot sets is like a massive itch that has finally been scratched.

However, knowing my bloody luck, I'm 90% sure some bastard is going to announce a new Dinobot set now...

Mine was like that. I put some Future (or use Kiki's) on it and let it sit overnight. Tightened it right up and haven't had a problem with it for 8 years now. I'd recommend that. I think I remember taking the jaw off but I had to pry it to get it off so I'd just do my best to get it down into the pin holes and work the jaw to let it seep in.

I'm sure everyone who had wanted a new set of Dinobots to be done will appreciate your sacrifice.

You bloody well better! That set cost me an arm, a leg, three kidneys and half an arse cheek. It was my snooker arm, an' all. Just so you lot could get a new load of Dinobots. Bloody ingrates...

I've never got around to using polish to tighten joints, but I think that day is drawing near. Is there a thread dedicated to this or any sort of picture/video guide?

I also may be overthinking it, but, they are expensive figures and I'm not terribly handy.

    (Thanks for your input pal!)

I don't think so since you'd probably not want to take it apart unless you have to. I remember the head being a real pain to get apart and back together again. The jaw is on two pins that hold it in. I'd use a sewing needle or toothpick to drip a bit of future/kikik's in on either side, work it around and just leave it for 24 hours. As I said, it fixed mine! :)

How much is FT-04's collector card worth? Just curious.
