the same about my experience with TF-01, especially when I understood that it couldn't combine to God Bomber with core truck attached

Wait, what? You can't combine Classics Prime + Trailerforce + God Armor?? Or you're talking about the (silly) combination with MP-10?

    exactly
you cannot combine 2 armors at the same time with any core (classic or G1 Ginrai)

that was the main reason for me not to buy tf-02 and to sell tf-01

Man, I can be wrong, but it can't
there is no any hook or any other thing on tf-01 to connect to tf-01 - thanks a lot Xowergen
I was waiting about a year between those two releases to find out all these things

Got both sets cheap and set off on a huge modding sesh. PMOP is nearly done and I'll be working on making him able to turn into God Ginrai when he's done:

I'll not be using all of tf02 though. Wings, head, maybe some form of the feet.

Nice! I think this set really only has value as kitbash fodder.

I like the paint applications that you have made. I have been thinking about doing the same thing. This is a great piece for customization, just needs some varied paint apps and some tweaks here and there. My main focus is for it to look great in the God Ginrai mode while standing next to Victory Saber. I have already modified/shortened the shoulder posts on TF-01. As time permits, more mods will be done in the future.

What shades of blue and red did you use for your custom?

    Zombie thread revival!

I did post just over a year ago what I'd started then I lost my mojo and couldn't get my head around some parts and how I could get them to work.....

Now I have. I can thank a close shave with Powerbaser for the revival. I just couldn't get passed the diaper and had to have a pmop/God Ginrai on my shelf.

That's my plan too. He needs to be around the size of Star Saber and Victory Leo as God Ginrai and I don't think I'm far off now:

The aforementioned 2 arrive tomorrow, the Apex chest armour should be ready on Tuesday and I'm gonna be printing a larger version of the G1 shoulder cannon this week.

It's gone from a pile of shit to one of the jewels of my collection. Powermaster Optimus Prime has always been a fave though. So badass.

I do like the apex-less look though.

Makes me want to post my completed mods.

I took the Voyager sized MP10 and made it compatible with Xovergen. Also did a lot of sanding and adjusting of parts so that God bomber has no left over pieces when combining with powermaster prime. So now I can properly combine Xovergen 1 & 2 & and optimus cab, all together and without a bag of left over God bomber parts.

Still pisses me off as this should have been stuff already incorporated into the design. It didn't require any additional parts, just the rearranging and sanding of parts. Their engineer was an idiot.

I just bought this used myself for less than half the price. Despite its flaws and being a parts grenade, it certainly does have a presence by itself. I have yet to combine him, as my version of Trailerforce is the nemesis/Vindicator version.

Don't bother, it can't support it's own weight when combined. I had an endless task of trying to keep it up right and only to come home and find it on the floor.

Is it because of the feet and backpack? It does seem to have a difficult time standing on smooth surfaces.

Edit: and also, what the hell is the short white pole/stick for? According to promotional pictures it fits nicely into the right shoulder cavity. Lightsaber? A bit odd to store it there. And no beam effect for it.

The figure was rushed out and may have been unfinished. The feet are tricky as hell, if you don't have the latches exactly right it can't support anything and will collapse and fall apart. I often had to lean it against walls or other tricks to get it to stay up. When they announced the Takara Ginrai I was glad to throw it back in the box.

As you can see I did a few mods to it, but the worst part was the combined legs, they can support any version of the figure for long.

TBH I only got him as a decent stand-alone stand-in; as the Fans Hobby version will remain combined with Powerbaser.

I also have the MakeToys Divine Shooter and if you think TF-02 is a mess of parts, it's more of the same there too.

Maybe as stock. Put a bit of effort it in and it's the basis of a kick ass Ginrai. I just got Star Saber and Victory Leo:

    PicsArt_09-03-12.33.53.jpg

so need to finish off the more refined combined mode feet and finish titivating the improved God Bomber as a stand alone. I totally changed the way it combines though. Not a fan of the stock look.

Glad to see that Apex armour fits him well though. Once I've finished the parts I'm designing I might chuck 'em on Shapeways for others to try if they want.

It reminds me of an old garage kit. Not upto the standards of a more mass released figure but more of a project.

It’s fine as super ginrai, it’s the God Ginrai feet that are unstable. They can’t support the weight and don’t hold together well. As I said the God Bomber mold was rushed.

Yeah that's why I totally changed the way it combined. It wasn't very accurate or good looking anyway.

I honestly think tf01 was rushed too

That's odd... Did you attempt any fix at all? Floor polish or super-glue coats on the feet ball joints?

Mine stands / poses fine, except for the limited ratchet clicks at the thighs (the "click" positions are too wide and far-between).

Though I think it's a mess of a figure, if combined properly, it holds together well, or at least mine does.

Also note that mine is no longer "hollow" as I have a diecast voyager sized MP-10 housed in its combined God Ginrai mode. Also, I use all the parts of the standalone God Bomber figure in the combined formed (the dude is heavy...). There's a way to do it. It looks like during development they scrapped the idea, but there are still portions that show it was originally being designed to house a cab bot.
