There is a Macross Yamato vf-1 1/48 that exists, the Hikaru version that has red marking like that of Jetfire, all it needs is some more strpes, red eyes, and red boosters / armor instead of blue, which you might be able to pull off. That is a very nice looking and well engineered toy that already exists. It is very close to the Jetfire. It might be faster / cheaper getting someone to paint those for you than waiting for someone to make that exact scheme, but it is not impossible that someone may one day do it.

Standard 1/60 scale Yamato vf-1 rick, looks already somewhat like Jetfire without any paint app (the 1/48th also has the same scehem):

I'm not interested in a hand painted $500 toy.

It's the 1/60 vf-1s Hikaru Ichijo, and Yamato had a version with super and strike parts. I don't know why reprolabels never made a set of stickers to make a vf-1s look like a Jetfire. Yamato even had a unpainted assembly kit that would be perfect for a reprolabel set...

Talking about that... take a look at MoonBaseTom's custom with one of those unpaited assembly kit...

    Man, poor Classics Jetfire... :D

Anyway, just a Macross/Jetfire parentheses, let's go back to the thread

If I could get that for about $100, and maybe some reprolabels for the red stripes, I'd be interested.

Hey, somebody KO that thing! PLEASE!

What scale Valkyrie was the G1 Jetfire toy again?

Yea, good idea, if Yamato was still making these for cheap (the 1/60th used to be like 80$ without armor), I would email Reprolabels right now to ask them to look into it.

However, Arcadia, who took over Yamato, is making the Hickaru, but is way more expensive, but still, relatively very affordable at 165$:

@Scaleface: Arcadia is releasing the Macross VF-1 Hickaru in December at around 165$, it is a 1/60th version, so about same size as normal MP, ie about 9". This is similar pricing to current MP from Takara, so comparatively, it is a very good product, since you missed the boat when they originaly came out from Yamato at 80$ a few years back. You can get it from Hong Kong Collectibles:

VF-1S Hikaru Ichijo Movie Special Edition 1/60 scale from Arcadia

That is where I got a few of my macros toys that were on sale. As you can see, it looks a lot like the Jetfire, I think you wont need any painting at all, just some autobot stickers.

That massive alt mode will be so fun in hand. I may or may not have to "whoooosh" it all around my apartment.

OK so i hate to be a downer here BUT while i REALLY love you are doing 2 versions....the aesthetics of the two in bot mode are WAY similar and you'll have a little bit of cannibalizing of sales i think. titan is SOMEWHAT modern comics inspired but VERY heavily leans toward the G1 toon for inspiration, now kronos comes along and is spot on for G1 toon. sad to say i think you will lose some sales to PERCEIVED redundancy. that being said, i was always of fan of G1 toon and toy and this scratches the G1 toon itch more than titan - so i may end up passing on titan for kronos.

I really think both offerings look great. I may have to get both considering it is becoming increasingly more difficult to choose.

That's why they will be sale as a set for the best price , and I will make a very small run on both enough just to cover the tooling cost.

Imagine a voyager level firgure 40-50 parts takes about 4-6 molds at $4k-5k. Per mold ( not counting price per part injected ) then add cost of assambly + paint + packaging and then shipping

Mp level figure 120-170 parts. 15 -18 molds at $4k-5k per mold , then add the cost per part injected. , paint , assembly. And then shipping

Its a huge gap between a voyager level project and a mp level one and iam not counting on the marked up price that the distributors listed the products as , otherwise I wouldn't mind selling them at production cost . I don't mind. Making both versions as long as the small run is sold. So the tooling is covered . Remember iam a transformer fan not a toy company and what I do is just to try to please some other fans like me that really wanted this figures

That way I can continue making. More. Figures. For the fans

and with that....much respect and love man! good luck. i'll probably be supporting one or both these in some fashion!

also sounds like you';ll need to make around 500 of them or so minimally to cover the molds

That sounds good man, thanks for doing it. I really don't want you to lose money on this project. Is it maybe possible that you do a built to order once a nice test shot is out and reviewed by Peaugh / Vangelis ? Or is it too late, and you incurred the costs already due to making the mold, thus the built to order maybe doesn't make sense at all. I don't know the whole process, so just trying to guess here.

This is where I think Captured Prey would come in. Look what they were able to do for FansToys.

This is a retailer who doesn't mark up the product too much but just enough and essentially helped make Fanstoys Quakewave figure a topseller!

I thought they wanted feed back on what people did want. They are making 3 different Jetfire/Skyfire inspired toys, Figured I'd say what I want to see out of their fourth project.
