I don't get why people expect this to be under $100+. FP's limbs were ~$60 a pop and those are about the same size and complexity as Gears and Swerve. They share some common factory parts and this set even comes with extra features like accessories and alternate faces.

This set may actually make it to $60 or $80. MT did after all release Chaos/Paladin, which I thought was reasonably priced for it's size.

Because "people" don't like wasting money if they don't have to?

The FP limb bots at $60 were overpriced, simple as that.

They only got away with that initial price with the bullshit being peddled that they would "subsidise" the cost of the much bigger and way-complicated Diesel. Whether that was intentional misdirection or not I don't care, it gained traction and $60 they were. And totally not worth that.

I won't pay that price level again for a Scout-class toy no matter how nice it looks. These guys included. Below $100 and we can talk, higher than that.......someone else can buy them.

Especially with that nice looking Hasbro Swerve coming out at $10. I'm positive that a Gears will follow.

Yeah, I don't think the FP Menasor limbs really serve as a pricing standard. They're more of an exception than anything. FP itself even has the F(x) figures that are bigger than the limbs, have more features and are still in the same ballpark for pricing.

How much were the other Causality figures? Like $50, $55 right? I don't see how the limb-bots being $5-10 more really justify running through the streets shouting 'RIPOFF!!!'.

I don't consider it to be anyway. Seems like they established a price point for that size class from the beginning and have mostly stuck to it.

Up to you to decide if it's worth it.

If they would just go ahead and release these we can get all the worth or not worth out of the way. Come on maketoys, you want my money or not.

If Chaos/Paladin is $80, I will agree that these being upwards of $100 is pretty silly.

I'm pretty sure that if you're willing to spend premium prices on third party figures, which are a luxury item, then you're definitely "wasting money".

The FP limbs were an absolute scam with their asking price when you asses their features, size, and playability. Would I love it if it the set was around $60-80? Absolutely. I would love to display these fellas with my Masterpiece figures while I use the official ones for my Classics displays.

I'm just stating that I wouldn't be surprised if MakeToys pulls a similar stunt with their asking price for this two pack since they'd be able to get away with it when you see how many people bought into FP's not-Stunticons.

I could see these being anywhere between 60 to 80 quite easily and I don't really care since MT makes some of the best stuff. Since I can actually afford to buy things again now I just hope these aren't MT store exclusives.

That subsidised bull shit was pretty fucked up...and I fell for it, what a mug. Where did that information come from?

    Oh I get it.
Don't worry all, this set may be 100+ but rest assured it is subsidising the MFB which will be more than reasonably priced.

The price of the limbs subsidizing M3's price was overhyped by the fans. By a wide margin. The info came before any Stunicons limbs were released, as I recall.

TFcon 2013 - Fansproject Function X and M3 (Not Motor Master) Prototype On Display - Transformers News - TFW2005

I can only assume things got pricier than they expected and that plans majorly changed. And that likely incurred more costs.

You may consider the basis for this entire hobby a waste of money then, I don't. After all little plastic robots aren't food/bills/mortgage and aren't essential. Doesn't mean I approach buying the things in an "I don't care/money no object" fashion just because they're frivolous.

I get value for what I pony up or I don't buy. And like most sensible folks in this thread I have a cut off point and my breaking strain for purchase here is anything north of $90 odd.

Oh, and to the other guy, yeah the Intimidator limbs were a rip-off. A total fucking rip. But I only run through streets when drunk or winning Superbowls. Or both.

Again, all Causality figures in this size scale were basically the same price. I don't understand why people are surprised by this.

If anything the extra engineering for combined mode justifies the extra $5-10. Even if it is just a few pegs or whatnot.

Thanks for your response, random dude.

Insecticons were the same price too.

    Damn those fans.

You really wanted him to call you Worlds greatest?
    :D

I got the Insecticons recently but thought originally they were cheaper.

They were originally much cheaper. ;)

Never mind, those that want to pay $60 for a Scout be my guest, after all it's your money.

Given how little is different, sculpt-wise, between these two (heads, chests, and the back/vehicle-tops)… this is MT's chance to pull a Mech Ideas, but with Scouts. I'm gonna hope for the lower end of prices. Both look fantastic… love Cogwheel's "G1 toy" face. Sure, iGear's G1-face for Cogz is a better direct representation of it, but MT's looks badass. A Classics-style updating of the face. Looks like the front half of his gun rotates, probably so that one tab can tab into the side of his alt-mode.
