How come no one has done a 3rd party JetFire/SkyFire?

    I was just thinking, why have we not seen a 3rd party Jet Fire/Sky Fire?
    is it just because half would prefer the macross toy and the other would want a g1 cartoon version? seems like a way too popular guy to pass up

    Too many issues regarding macross look a-like. Didn't the Transformers franchise lose rights to that name and figure likeness rights?

    I think for Jetfire, yes, not sure for Skyfire. It's been explained a few times, but my memories shocking lately.

    But the name Jetfire continues to be in use, officially. So how exactly did Hasbro lose rights to it?

    I think they should make Skyfire its own character now, the same should happen for Galvatron too.

    I think there would be a market for a cartoon-accurate Skyfire. I would guess most haven't bothered so far because Hasbro already did a decent dip in the Classics Jetfire well.

    But then again, we have HOW MANY third party Powerglides?

    FansToys (maker of Quakewave) teased possibly making an MP-level Jetfire/Skyfire in the (probably distant) future. They're our best bet for a 3P take on the character.

    If I were a 3PC thinking about making a MP sized Jetfire, I'd be a little reluctant to see the project through.

    Jetfire was a popular character and toy way back then and now, one would think. After seeing MP Soundwave come out of left field earlier this year, I'd reluctant to make any MP sized toy to be honest.

    Meeeeee too!...he's my fave stand alone TF character...he's also responsible for my love of the F-14...I've been looking forward to seeing a JF produced for the longest time...why there isn't one, I do not know...seems like a no brainer...and does the name even matter?...3rd party's never use the official TF names...

    They probably haven't made one because Classics / Henkei Jetfire is decent enough for most. It's not a perfect mould, but it's unique and fills the void. I don't think it has anything to do with someone else owning the rights to the character. I mean, it's not like 3rd party groups care about that too much when it comes to Hasbro, so why they'd care about another company is beyond me.

    Still, with a 3rd party Perceptor, Cliffjumper, and others on the way there's a chance of this happening. Although I'm hoping a set of Dinobots come before it.
