I'm really stoked that MakeToys is bringing us both Nova Prime and his corrupted evil form, Nemesis Prime, but I think we can assume this rules out a Battle Tanker for SDCC Scourge (despite the title of this thread).

No matter; it was a simple repaint anyway. :p

All told, this figure cost me $250 (and about five hours' work painting), but I finally have the perfect Scourge. Totally worth it. :D

^ Original Tanker. If it were the SG retools he'd have the new shoulder pads, a Matrix plate in the chest... and either another gun or some wicked chains.

BTW... nicely done... though it'd have been sweet if you added a few bits of Teal onto the addon pieces. I mean the head repaint looks phenomenal after all.

I had a feeling it was the original but wasn't 100% sure I didn't know if he was just not adding the shoulder bits or not. The paint job looks amazing almost as if they made an additional set that was like the original tanker toy.

Think I'm gonna be canceling my scourge at BBTS soon. Will hold off in case someone here wants to snatch it up. PM me if you do.

Unless the set they produce is significantly different than the one pictured, the base figure is the Hasbro RTS Prime mold. Let's compare:

As you can see, the Scourge pictured here has significantly different knees, chest and abdomen to Nova. Also, unlike the RTS Prime mold, Nova's wheels don't collapse into the legs, whereas on Scourge it appears they do. Now if we look at Sentinel...

All the parts match up with Scourge. Same knees, same legs, same abs, and the armor parts are the same exact design.

Unless Maketoys is knocking off Hasbro's RTS mold EXACTLY for Scourge (Not smart) or plan to greatly rework this to make it a remold of Nova, what is pictured is a Battle Tanker upgrade set variant, NOT a repaint of the Nova Prime set.

^ You're referencing an old photo, here's the new one.

This is the image that has called into question the need for TFCC Scourge, it seems to include the new base figure.

But why tease one image and then completely change the design of the figure??? The second image doesn't even include the skull caps or the cape so there is a lot of info missing that we need to be filled in on more or less it'll help ease a few so they can have peace of mind but I just am confused as the next person at this moment.

Ah, then I am a numpty, and you are correct. That is definitely not the Scourge version of the RTS mold under that armor.

Yep TFCC Scourge is definitely not required at all then, that's a complete new base figure there. So Both MT NemPrime and NovaPrime will have their own base figures which have molds based on the original rts but are tweaked with better joints etc since they're MT's own version. Much nicer.

If this ends up not an upgrade for TFSS Scourge, I'm less than thrilled.

If the cape and chains are gone, I'm out entirely, regardless of what the base figure is.

Damn MakeToys' communication can really suck balls. It'd be nice if they made it clear what you do or don't need for this thing...but why bother clueing people in when they/we can spend a few weeks or months guessing what the hell is going on.

Is it possible that the Nemesis armor is compatible with TFSS Scourge and their own cab figure?

Without digging out my Battle Tanker, I recall the attachment points for the armor to be:

    - lower legs and feet (folded up)
    - new waist/hip cover
    - new head
    - forearms and hands
    - if using the SG/Dagger versions, then also the chest has an insertable filler piece with matrix
    - if using the SG/Dagger versions, there is an additional pair of missile launcher panels for the shoulders

the "new" base figure used in the updated Nemesis Prime figure seems to use the same connection points, so they might have a "new" mold for some parts, but the connection areas are the same

it would be nice if MT did make an additional figure to compensate for those who didn't get the subscription figure but then again to those of us who did buy the sub figure will be a little PO'd because it may not be a requirement to complete this set.

I imagine the cape would be very difficult to make nice given fabrics are almost a different business entirely to plastic figures. Theirs a chance it's still going to be included and is just taking longer than the figure itself but I could see them leaving it out if it's too difficult/costly. If they do end up doing it I could see the nem deco version being very limited, moreso than even the dia magnus/shattered sets were.

Given in the newer pic the shoulder attachment points are empty, I'm sure they'll put something in there. Given how popular Battle Sentinels' chains were...

I am hoping the cape DOES make it in. Not like 3rd party companies have never done capes before (Starscream Coronation set)

^ I am close to it. I have no desire for a tfcc scourge (even if is nice) unless it is required for this set. I only collect 3rd party and Mp stuff now. I have a feeling the "angel" mold will look better. However, I still want to wait until I have all of the facts.

I am just worried that bbts won't let me cancel my scourge by that point because I have already had him in my pol for a while. Especially, if there is a rush of cancelations when the facts come out. Oh-well. Maketoys was about to be my favorite 3rd party but their lack of info has pushed MMC into my top spot. First the sg Magnus set reductions, then Fallen's life in limbo, and now a ronin upgrade set.
