They don't match up. Hardbone and Brainwave were Classics-style toys, at large Voyager/Ultra size. About 7" tall. MakeToys' Headmasters are scaled as they appeared in the Headmasters anime, the same height as Optimus Prime, so 10" tall to match MP-10.

 

Thanks for the response! I guess the only thing I’m confused about is that the season 4 animation version it seems like they’re all the same height? I just want them all together on a shelf.

Ok that’s what I thought. So I guess I’ll just have to wait for MP animation accurate versions.

Well considering I was requesting a comparison between the Brainwave figure and the Maketoys Headmasters I would think the inference was to see if they would go together in an MP collection. Which they don’t.

 

It's funny I saw that picture and think they look good together. Aesthetically they don't seem so far off, and if I remember right the Brainstorm toy was shorter than Hardhead and Chromedome. I can see why it wouldn't work for animation accuracy though.

 

If we're being entirely up front, I started buying both the FP and TW headmasters figuring they'd be as close to Masterpiece as we'd ever see. I mean, Chromedome was a carbot and Code was MP carbot size. Toyworld came out with Hardbone and it wasn't a terrible fit.

Then FP, TW and Hasbro all released Brainstorm around the same time...

Then, Maketoys had to go and up size them.

 

That’s the thing, I think Brainstorm aesthetically looks close to the Maketoys style which would be perfect but that scale is a big nope for doing a season 4 shelf. The headmasters are all the same height as Prime in the show and so it unfortunately wouldn’t work to have one that much smaller. The Maketoys are pretty perfect in scale.
