You got a solid point. Shouldn't Freeway be more of a Corvette? Don't get me wrong, I still like him, just makes you wonder if it's 'not-Freeway'.

Quick question.
Are these figures still intended to combine, or was that some sort of misunderstanding?

I haven't seen much along the those line beyond the 'leg' modes for Aurora and Grind Rod, and there's no pic of an 'arm' mode for this one.

Is there anything definite either way?

 

It was confirmed by either BBTS / TFsource that they do combine as a loose homage to Puzzler, the GoBot combiner. 

 

I was thinking the same. I still probably won't buy these, but I'm interested in how the combined mode will look.

 

Yes, that's what bothering me as well with this one. Both Grindrod and Aurora were perfect updated from the G1 Throttlebot, but I didn't even peg this as a Throttlebot when I saw the pic.

 

Personally I don't care if he doesn't have a Throttlebot look to him, he's freaking gorgeous!! The only one that will bother me if not done right will be Goldbug, but even then I'll be ok with it if he looks as great as this guy does.

 

I think these look awesome, I'm getting them just as updated modern versions of the Throttlebot's, don't even care about the combined mode to tell you the truth -

 

Yeah, I have no interest in combining these guys either.

Seems you can also get the scaled model in red, yellow or orange though.

-ZacWilliam, if your gonna do Throttlebots do them. Don't do 1 spot on, one close enough for an update, and then one waaaayyy off model.

 

But TW already laid out the Minivan/SUV theme from day one. We knew Goldbug would not be a VW Beetle and that Wideload would not be a dumptruck. I think the only thing we can expect from this line are proper colours are spot on heads.

Rollbar is the one throwing this set off because he was spot on. This happened because he has the only alt mode that fit into TW's odd (but shared from day one) alt mode choices.

 

It's not the vehicle choice or changes that throw it off to me. They could have done these same vehicles and still had it TF into something that looked reasonably Throttlebotty. Not-Searchlight did.


-ZacWilliam, I don't mind new details even just would like it to look broadly like the character. This fails there.

 

Is that definite? I was really hoping that one of the two middle silhouettes in the teaser pics would turn out to be a 2012 Beetle for Goldbug - possibly just wishful thinking, though.

I know he's not spot on to the G1 toy since the roof of the car isn't his chest and the hood isn't his feet, but he's a nice update. I wonder if TW figured fans would accuse them of repeating the same look/transformation so they opted to mix things up a bit. None-the-less, it's a damn good looking figure even if not "G1 accurate".

 

Well, since it's a gestalt, I didn't want a giant robot with four legs anyways!

I'd guess the blue not-Freeway will have a similar design, and be the other arm. Then an orange SUV version of not-Wide Load will be the lower torso, and not-Goldbug will be the head, right?
