Right, The classics mold has it's flaws, but I still think it looks better than this.

I have, and am very pleased with their Hegemon, and was hoping to like this one as much, These pictures don't match the silhouette they teased, I just don't like what I'm seeing.

I would also like to see Hasbro take a shot at a new Classics Voyager sized Optimus Prime, and Megatron too. It seems it would be simple to be more accurate to the IDW incarnation.

Not really. The basic shape is there, but the drawing has a lot more recessed areas, curves, and other interesting shapes that the toy doesn't. The toy gets the windshield completely wrong, too.

I like the Legends scaled Hasbro version much more. That comparison makes me appreciate Legends Prime. It really shows off what Hasbro got right, I like little prime's head sculpt much better.

That's not fair, dude. HasTak can't hope to compete with third-parties when it comes to complexity of engineering; their designers are far more restricted by budgets, parts count, durability tests, number of paint app's, etc. Third-party products can be as complex and fragile (and expensive) as they want to be.

Fair enough... but it's a damn sight better than anything HasTak is giving us! I mean, the front wheels turn! :thumb

The only thing that will prevent me from getting this Optimus is if Hasbro reveals a voyager sized IDW Optimus either at Botcon or SDCC. Based on what they have released/revealed so far this year, I do not think the idea of a Voyager sized Optimus is too far fetched, what do you all think? and if not, I will be quite happy with Toywords release.

I don't have the MP prime so this looks good for me. IM still learning the process, so if we are seeing these latest offers from Toyworld, in the process of making these, where are these at in the stage we are looking at. Looks like they are close to being done.

This is 100% empty excuses based on nothing but speculation. I've see Hasbro do great figures... just not in a long time. I speculate that they've lost their good engineers.

Voyager Springer and Generations Jazz and PRID Vehicon would like to have a word with you.

On topic, I can't see this replacing my classic voyager prime. This has a few things going for it (love the robot mode abs) but he doesn't offer me anything that says "I must have this". now if they release a 2 pack of prime and hegemon for a great price ($140-150 ish) I might think differently.

Looking at Springer, I'd say if they wanted to do a voyager of the IDW Optimus design, they'd knock it out of the park.

Eh... that kind of looks terrible? I mean the truck mode is a square, a blocky, greebly boring square. And the robot mode is lacking the lines and proportions of the comic design. I mean, the legs are just squares, and the head looks awful. Overall this is kind of a letdown, since I love his IDW design.

    Springer.

I believe I'm going to have to concur with your breakdown of this figure. I was overlooking the windshield, but something about the rest of it didn't 'feel' right. I believe sir, you nailed the problem(s) on the head.

Preordered. Other then Hedgemon, what other version of Meg's would go good with this prime?

IMO Hegemon is it! - I cannot think of another Megatron to go with him. I know some folks would like a voyager Stealth bomber Megs, which would cool, but until we get one, Hegemon is number one in my book.

Springer is too skinny. Easy pass.
Didn't like the FP one either...Toyworld should give him a go.

Last decent Hasbro design was Generations Jazz.

    1. He's not, and 2. you're missing out.

Springer is an example of a good design that's not just a beefy wad of bricks and blocks because there's mroe to robots than being square.

I just noticed--is this the first G1 Optimus toy to have a proper set of 8 drive wheels? Even the MP's only have 4 in the rear.

You're right. He's OK for IDW Springer. I prefer to have a more chunky TFTM Springer.

I like bricks for some characters and skinny for others.

You're probably right on the missing out bit too...I have to limit my buying:(
Will await a design I'm happy with.

I've suddenly become a big supporter of Toyworld.
Hoping these guys get released soon.

The recent RTS G2 Laser Optimus has 8 drive wheels too.
