Hi I'm new to collecting Masterpiece, just trying to get a list going of 3rd party figures that "roughly" scale and hold their own with the Masterpiece line.

    Igear:
    Thrust, Ramjet, Dirge, Ironhide, Rachet

    Mastermind Creations Feral Rex

    TFC Hercules (Devastator)
    TFC Uranus (Suprion)
    TFC Photron (Reflector)

    FT Quake Wave

With that sort of scale and style in mind are there any others you would suggest?

scale is a touchy subject for some. for me all of these work, except maybe bludgeon... i would go with pe reflector over the tfc. he may be tiny, but he's supposed to be a scout anyway. tfc is just to far from looking like the original character to me.

iGear Coneheads, FT Shockwave, possibly iGear Ironhide/Ratchet/Minibots are the only ones that I think fit well. Everything else doesn't look G1 enough.

Igear Ironhide and Ratchet are too fugly to display with MPs. Apart from the size, it just doesn't work at all. Same goes for any combiner that's out there... Actually even worse since the scale just doesn't match at all.

Looking at pics, the iGear Van Bros are about an inch too short to scale. They should be up to prime's shoulder at the very least

I'm guessing robot mode scale, because Uranos and Hercules aren't even close if we're going by alt mode scale..

Pretty sure the Insecticons weren't that small in G1, I may be wrong though.

Scale chart shows them as waist height to the seekers so they're perfect. Reflector is the same height.

Guess i stand corrected, haven't seen the scale chart. Always thought they were bigger in the cartoon.

Bear in mind, in the cartoon they had one epp where Bruticus was in the same frame as the Combaticons and was normal sized. And in another cartoon Ultra Magnus was gastalt sized compared to the Constructicons.

Animation errors happened a lot back then, so taking the scale of the toy is pretty much down to the person and their collection.

I'd say Masterpiece "scale" would be toy that measure up with MP-10 Optimus Prime and the G1 animated size chart.

There are several third party accessories for Masterpiece toys, like the igear one for Grimlock with a crown, cup and little Thrust toy for Grimlock to catch with his teeth...

Plus various Masterpiece Reprolabels and eness stickers.

Those are well known animation errors. The actual "Scale Guide" is what we are talking about... Takara seems to be using it for the current Masterpiece toys.
