...should I get it? New Transformers TFX 01 City Commander Blue and White Trailer | eBay It seems like I've heard that the City Commander KOs tend to be pretty decent, as far as KOs go, and although I feel kind of guilty about buying a knock-off of something made by an indie company like this, they're not producing it anymore, so I wouldn't be able to support them by buying an official one. Could anyone who's gotten one tell me how good they are, and if they're worth this price? I've wanted a City Commander, but there's no way I'd be able to afford an actual one.
Actually I think there's a new run of the official CC armors in production right now, there's a pre-order page on TFsource if I remember right.
Cc kos are good for display only. Trailer mode holds together well but the arms and shoulders are loose, very very loose
They are supposed to be pretty good. You'll need to do some minor tweaking to make the armor stay on. Robotkingdom's listing shows what you have to do: robotkingdom.com -- Online Toys Company
I own a couple of the KO's (the DIA and Shattered Glass versions)... and they are absolute junk compared to my official City and Shadow Commanders. In fact, the 2 KO's will be going on eBay soon and I don't expect much as I feel it's necessary for me disclose such info in my listing. They're cheap, they're flimsy, joints flop all over the place, turning the hands breaks the plastic on the arms, they don't fit on the classics figure properly, the missiles don't fit in the shoulders. I'd personally rather overpay for a quality official version... it's a figure that I foresee having a permanent spot in my collection... he rocks.
BTW, I still have a couple unopened from the very first 2008 release if you're interested (I purchased 10 of those bad boys). Being that it's the original release, it does not come with the missiles and gun found in the later versions. Doesn't look like the KO you're looking at does either anyway...
Dude, they make profit by using someone else's IP. That's not what "indie" stands for. Why feel bad about it, they're getting a lot of buck anyway.
That's not independent, that's just plain old dependent on somebody else's effort. With that said, buy it if you want it, but don't romanticize knockoff makers.
Considering the seller ships from Beijing, China and seems to sell an awful lot of Fansproject KO's... it's a safe bet. However, the fact that he seems to divulge the fact that a lot his stuff is KO's, but didn't on this one... leaves me to wonder. Wouldn't hurt to try asking him... but I'm sure he just slipped.
I'm sure it is a KO too but the auction is misleading and thus fraudulent. Then again it may be real but I highly doubt that.
The shoulders are easy to fix with some thin white adhesive padding but I could not get the forearms to stay on for the life of me. You can force the bfg to wrap around and lock together but it looks like it puts a ton of pressure on the pins to do that. Plastic-wise I think it's pretty comparable to the legit set, but tolerance-wise it's pretty terrible.
