SXS-R01 - Continuously Variable Preorder up (ie-not-Gears). This is the first I have seen of anything regarding an actual release/prototype of this figure.

EDIT: It appears that BBTS is running another "early bird special" with this guy. His price will go up 5 dollars after the 14th.

EDIT EDIT: Updated with new pics on 5/30/13

OK had a chance to stop looking at the picture and noticed the price.

WHY OH WHY would you put out a figure for $70 when people are bitching about a $38 version that belongs to a line that people have committed too?

This is Gears, right? I think I remember seeing a colored 3D-render of this a few months back... I'll see if I can dig it up.

Yeah, I seem to vaguely remember some renders as well. This is the first information that I have seen regarding an actual release/prototype however.

EDIT: ^ There they are. You are one step ahead of me :)

EDIT EDIT: Notice that they removed that molded autobot logo.

The renders kinda look like the prototype...maybe it's just because of the gray that it's not translating as well. Something is missing the mark and I can't quite put my finger on it.

I might consider getting this over iGear's. More expensive, but looks more complex and articulated. Also seems more classics style over articulated G1, which I prefer.

This reminds me of the Fansproject Warbot/Parallax look. Chunky, hard edge shapes everywhere.

Yeah, I remember everyone at the time talking about how ballsy it was to sculpt an actual Autobot symbol right into the frickin' toy! Haha. Looks like they removed it though.

Yeah... the details look washed-out... he looks kinda soft... edges are lacking crispness... kinda like the Herc bots.

Hmm. I feel like 'once upon a time' I would have gotten excited over this, but now it looks like...you know how Hasbro will make a toy of a character and it's cool but it doesn't really look how you wish it would? It's like that.

iGear's Gogz looks exactly how I want Gears to look.

That said I'm priced out of both of them unless someday it's possible to buy Cogz by himself without a "because this is the one you want" markup tacked on.

Don't have an MP Lambor myself... how big does that make this guy? A decent-sized deluxe at least, right?

Yeah ... I'd say a small deluxe I guess. Maybe Classics Bumblebee height.

I wish more third parties would just straight up give us measurements.
