As much as I love X1 I would love to get my hands on that Jizai proto version.

Hopefully everytime Jizai or one of the other indies gets mentioned on this forum, at least one new person will see these works for the first time and fall in love with them. He really is one of the top indie designers of transforming toys out there. I absolutely love the creativity he shows. A transforming toy can be anything, but few people look at it with that kind of artistic mindset. I love the good old battle hardend robot, but need a change of pace.

Since I haven't seen it posted yet here is Jizai's website.
and here is another designer some of you may be interested in Henge

If Jizai lends his Cyclonus design to FP, it needs to get Crossfired, Parallaxed, and Causalitied.

Cause as retro-fly as Code is, Cyclonus will be held to a higher standard.

I think this is all I'm getting at. Thoughtful/creative engineering with appealing design should be the goal. Most of the things on his site are just rough problem solving ideas, no different than when I sketch on paper to try some ideas out.

You can just see how much fun he's having playing around with his medium of choice!

As far as his Transformers interpretations, he really is recreating the animation model sheets in 3D! I mean come on, how cool. That would be my "classics" line of choice, if it existed.

I did this really quick. I think this has alot of potential.

I actually don't mind some extra detail/styling to help bring the basic designs up-to-date, but without losing the clarity and simple appeal of the original model sheets.

    There is definitely a balance.

Actually like the prototype more than the finished product... the proportions are more interesting as well as the wheel-placement in bot mode. Even kinda like the skinny legs...

    After seeing these designs
I gotta say, I have a LOT of respect for this guy as a designer... amazingly creative. The aesthetics don't necessarily match what I look for in a "Transformer", but I would love to own MANY of those products. Love how the arms of the girl become the "arms" of the chair... the rabbit foot ears and bunny butt-face, hilariously awesome stuff. Sexy-ass frog too...

I think for me it's the potential his solutions present. Look at the hippo and similarly Function X-1, (assuming it is his). I love how he is able to really hide the robot, folding, collapsing and turning things inside out.

I think if a "stylist" were to take some of his engineering solutions and overlay their own "style" you might get something truly fabulous.

Look at his amazing G1 prototypes, I could see someone adding slightly more detailing while maintaining the beauty of the G1 simplicity and arriving at something truly unique.

For instance, Jizai's Octane proto. I'd love to see some company take the basic design and add some more panel lining, little greebly detail and alt mode specific detail. I think it would be beautiful!

I dig assaulter's design a lot. It's more of what I expect from FP.
The final shots of it appeared a bit empty in spots though, and I was a bit strapped for cash around xmas so I passed. I would still like to see one in hand though before they are gone so I can make a final call and possibly pick him up.

I own FP CC, protector and colossus upgrades. I dig all those and that's the aesthetic I have grown to like from FP. Jizai's stuff is very interesting as well, and I might bite on something eventually, but CODE just wasn't it. I really want to see what they do with brainstorm though. He was my favorite of the headmasters so I will be looking to buy if they hit that one out of the park.

That Octane is actually amazing! Needs some work obviously, but incredible potential. And thank you for the new word... "greeble", not as gross as it sounds...

I think there are more people slamming Code than praising it, so not sure what you're talking about?

But I can assure you, I am NOT a FP fanboy. I own very little of their figures. Many I did own, I sold, just didn't care for them.

I think you jumped on the wrong high horse.

Jizai's stuff seems to have split the fandom of the third party world. Honestly, I've been a pretty big hater of Code...having ordered it with high hopes and having those hopes dashed faster than a shoomer to face (MTMTE reference).

However, even for someone like me, I can appreciate some of these designs. They have some incredible engineering behind them, and they are certainly something I couldn't come up with. I applaud the designer on that front. Other designs scare the crap out of me....kind of like the misfit toys from the first Toy Story movie.

As a designer, I'm glad he found an outlet for his work. I don't think he necessarily found the RIGHT outlet, given that many of us were already used to FansProject's consistent style, but an outlet is an outlet.

As I said over in the Weirdwolf thread...I haven't written the Function X line off quite yet. As a third party fan, it's almost easier to give some of these designs a trial run. Buy and sell if it's not for you. Code sits in my sale items pile right now.

Usually you have to go to certain corners of the Internet to find pics of humans who turn into things like these.
