If there's ever a market for Beast Wars/Machines figures from a third party, Jizai would probably be at the forefront of it, though MMC is proving themselves very capable with their recent prototypes of the not-Predacons.

I would LOVE to get the opportunity to see how that Cobra snake actually works engineering-wise!

This Fish guy is fun too. Love seeing him working through the problem.

These are very nice toys compared to what we've had back in the 70s/80s. My response was to show why some people just was not in "awe" about FxCode. And much like my response to Archieboy, these are all based on people's opinions. Heck, when I was a kid, I was in love with the G1 toys. Problem was my family could only afford sardine cans. The nostalgia is still there, just that, with how Engineering has developed over the years, and how FP has done with their previous lines, quite a number of people have expected more. I do have him, and I like the figure, just not as jaw dropping as others. It's the same thing with FP's Steelcore, there are folks who are very very happy with it, and others who would just trade/sell it once they've gotten it. It's a preference. ;)

I don't know, I think it's exactly the engineering that is so impressive about Jizai's toys. Their aesthetic is more suited to people who like the look of G1 toys, but the engineering is most certainly not of that time period. And that's what makes them so great! A streamlined, basic G1 look with very creative and modern engineering.

Most definitely, I completely get it, just wanted to wax poetic and maybe encourage fans to step back and put on some different spectacles for a moment.

Yeah, there is just something refreshingly sophisticated about it.

The original was awesome, but not as Chromedome. Looks more like an updated Mugen Calibur.

Yes, I can definitely see it.

The leg compression is interesting. It sort of collapses or accordions in on itself.

Its funny... I actually like the old design more than the FP Code haha. Really cool topic with some neat stuff here.

Seriously, I want Code to have done well enough (i.e., sold enough units) to justify continuing the line. Judging by Code, these line art figures are exactly what we'll get (maybe except Minerva) if they get released. And man-o-man, look how streamlined and kibble-free these designs are.

Sorry if i'm OT, but I've really had it.

mindwipe's wings are too small - lower body in bat mode looks too heavy. Its a bat, not a rat holding 2 pieces of paper.

weirdwolf looks like a scruffy dog. Neck is too slender, I believe a wolf's neck area is much more thicker (for biting?) Where's the body bulk? I half-expect it to go wooof!

chromedome actually looks good. I like the raised shoulders and layered chest(similar to cartoon) but the actual toy itself is disappointingly different. Fire that designer. He's an engineer, not a designer. Barrel-chest/body, no raised shoulders (just because the G1 toy sucks doesn't mean you have to homage the suckiness), no powermeter chest, etc...

I don't know why FP fanboys are raving over the aesthetics but seriously FP's chromedome really takes the cake for worst design of 2012/2013!

Minerva and brainstorm actually looks presentable (but not outright awesome) but how bad can you get to actually mess up their simple transformation/design?

At the price they're charging, I'll take the G1. At least the suckiness is vintage, man.

I was pumped to all hell for CODE, based off of those original designs shown. I wanted to support the whole charity thing too, but in the end chose to pull my preorder and let someone else take it. I just ended up not liking the final design and aesthetic at all. I'm not even talking "ankle tilts" cause honestly I don't give a shit about that if the toy is solid. I'm just talking about the design, it's a miss for me. If the transformation and engineering is good, I can see why people like it, but that doesn't change the appearance of the toy for me. It's just something I'd never pick up because it's too different from my tastes.

But if the majority is digging what jizai is doing, keep him rolling with it. I'm personally not a fan, but that just means I don't buy it. If plenty of others are, then by all means keep the dude plugging away at it.

It's cool if you don't agree man, but I don't get why everyone is being so defensive about CODE. It feels like people are taking personal offense to anyone would dare speak ill of it. I don't get that at all. It's a hit or miss design, imo and it's not chromedome to me. I'm not waiting on another 3P or hasbro to make a chromedome, but I'm not settling for that. I don't get why that's like unspeakable in these parts.

I'm cool with differences in opinion man. Not cool with name-calling, though. Fansproject fanboys? And I don't subscribe to this kind of "snobbery," the way Alain de Botton describes a "snob" as "anybody who takes a small part of you and uses that to come to a complete vision of who you are."

I should have posted that I wasn't directly assuming you were responsible for all of code's defense archieboy. I didn't mean for you to interpret that. Just seems like anytime someone posts they don't dig it, the code brigade comes in to defend.

People are gonna have differing opinions no matter what, but as long as everyone plays respectfully I'm cool. grump's post was pretty extreme, but I did agree that his initial line designs look like what I wanted from CODE. What FP released was not what I was interested in. I really wish it could have been closer to the art.

I don't care how many people dislike these Headmaster designs. Because I'm sure they like some things that I think suck. Uranos has a derpy face, bratwurst arms, and his hands are too big. But if other people like him that's cool. All the compliments and criticism Code has received are still just opinions. And if you feel very strongly about something, that doesn't mean you're closer to being right.
