Oh neat that looks great. A slightly darker green would be nice though.

 

look more modern compare to the FP one, and he's huge, like mmc 6 shots just shorter.

 

I'm torn.

On one hand: This mold has really grown on me the more I've looked at pictures of it, I REALLY like the new color scheme as far as the body goes, I'm digging the weapon loadout, and I want to support their continued choice of extremely suggestive names.

On the other hand: I do already have a perfectly good Hardhead, and I think I like him better as an Ultra than the tallish Deluxe I expect this to be, and the colors on the head on this guy make him just not look like Hardhead to me in robot mode. Not sure if the grey has to go or if just a yellow faceplate would do the trick. Probably the latter What is it with 3rd party Headmasters and miscolored faceplates lately? Haha

EDIT: Er...wait is this bigger than I think it is?

Grind Rod is basically a smallish Deluxe, so Hardbone is hovering in the range of smallish Voyager.

 

The final color of GrindRod was a lot different than what was initially shown. So this retina searing green may be slightly different on the final product.

I must say, I'm very impressed with this figure though.

EDIT: Here you go. Should be roughly correct. I found pictures of each of them taken at similar angles side by side with Grind Rod so I could scale them.

 

I received my FP Code today, so I happened to have Universe Hardhead out to compare them. And while I do like him a lot (with the Headrobots upgrade, probably goes without saying), I'm not as completely married to the idea of keeping him as I once was.

Plus, I'm eventually gonna get off my ass and customize my Stronghold, and it'll be nice not to have two Headmasters sharing the same mold.

So this guy's got a shot. Though I'll likely wait to see if FP is coming out with a new Hardhead too.

my gripes about FP's headmaster's not having articulated all joints...

looks like SOMEBODY finally woke-the-fug-up and got into this century's toy making!

now, heres hoping that they dont overlap and do the same headmasters...

Their immediate plans were for Chromedome, Weirdwolf, Skullcruncher, Mindwipe, Brainstorm, and Minerva. So Hardhead's seemingly in the clear on that front.

And FP strikes me as a group far less likely to bite at another group's heels, so that this has been revealed in full, FP probably isn't looking to add him to their roster any time soon.

 

Cool, thanks for the info. Bummed to see Highbrow isn't on the list either, though.

 

Wonder if we are still getting the United retool of Warpath from Takara. If I man-up and get this, and Takara brings out one, there is gonna be a whole herd of Hardheads in my classics display.

Personally, that one never interested me. Both because of the size, and because in my mind, the tank-barrel-in-the-chest thing is uniquely Warpath's.

Just nitpicking: would have preferred a head which is more cartoon accurate and for a tank, I think a more darker jungle green would be suitable than a bright green color.
