I don't recall the KO giftset figures being previously for sale or even on pre-order, but it looks like the packaging and instructions have been made. Box: Transformers Autobots Computron Custom Made Box | eBay Instructions: Transformers Autobots Computron Giftset Manual Repro | eBay This seller has been previously accused on TFW of selling the KO Computron giftset as authentic; he has had numerous sales of apparently authentic Computron giftsets spanning multiple eBay accounts. These could have easily just been just KO packaging with original figures. Either way, it looks like qiupaul has connections with Zhong Jin.
Hmm I agree it looks very much like a Zhong Jin box, but Zhong Jin is a big operation and they're based out of China. Since it's so far just one guy in Canada selling them, it could just be his own personal project. Then again, who's to say that Zhong Jin doesn't use this guy to design their fake packaging? I guess we'll see if more people start selling them out of China, or if it ends up just being this one guy in Canada, doing his own thing. The other gift sets he sold might have been fake boxes. But they also might have just been real gift sets that he was using as his source materials to create the fake boxes. He'd buy them, and when he was done scanning the boxes, he resold them--that's my theory. After all, it's hard to fake styrofoam. If we had pictures from the old auctions, it would be easier to determine what was going on with those, since we now know for sure what a fake box looks like.
Old "MIB" auction: Transformers Autobots Technobots Computron Complete | eBay Edit--On closer inspection, the box appears to be a version of the counterfeit box that lacks most of the differences. However, there is one difference it still has: lack of the little arrow next to the "TECH SPECS Clip and Save" blurb. Otherwise it looks just like the original... So yeah, two versions: 1) VERY close to original, just missing the little arrow. Used to scam people into buying fake "MIB" giftsets. Probably had legit toy inside. 2) More differences on this version. Sold as a reproduction box.
Yeah. I see G1 KO's being pawned as originals all the time on eBay. I am not up to what is authentic or not since I quit collecting G1, but man. This is scary. These KO's and reproductions are getting better and better. It's becoming increasingly difficult to differentiate the counterfeits from the originals. Good to warn everybody.
Hi guys, does anyone has the KO "Reissue" G1 Computron? I would like to know about the plastic's quality of this toy. Recently got a vintage Scattershot and a vintage Afterburner with all their pieces. Would like to merge them into Computron using the KO set.
