I'm just doing a test of a survey for the best third party Transformers of 2012. I only included full transformers, not accessories or add-ons to existing Transformers. I seperated them into 3 categories based on size.

I placed the test survey here:

    Please vote honestly.

    Thanks!

I'm not sure on the point of this. I will be adding a poll to Sid's threads when he lets me know. Pm me if you have any questions.

    Closing this.

While Sid's thread is a great judge of third party toys over all, I'm excited to see the results of the small 3P Transformer category, and the head-to-head of Giant vs. Hercules.

Cool man, I'm just about to fill out your poll. I wanted a TFW specific poll (purely because it is the only board I habitually use), but it's interesting to see an overall view.

I just wish people would stop voting for "none" or "Uranos". If you don't have an opinion, don't vote, and Uranos wasn't released in 2012!

I think we all look forward to the combiner category next year, with a potential Uranos, Perseus, not-Menasor, and two not-Predakings, the WWII-bots, plus others!

I like this survey because it lists the figures that have been released in 2012. For the life of me I can never remember all that came out and when.

    *edit*

After doing the survey I found that Cyclops won out for the over $50 list although pitting a $170 toy with a bunch of toys under $100 is a little unfair.

Feel free to use the list here to come up with nominees for Sids survey. I dont have a problem putting a $170 toy up against a $100 one, as I consider the value of the toy in my selection, but if toys keep going up in price, maybe next year there will be an over $150 category!

If you don't know what toy it is it's probably not your favorite ;-) ...but it's the TFClub Hercules version of Bonecrusher.

I think the price point should have been sub $80 instead of sub $50. Or maybe three sets. Having Grind Rod and Cyclops in the same category feels a little funny.

Next year, with the increased number of toys, I'll probably be splitting it up further in categories.

I was wondering... do people think shared molds should share one category in the survey? For instance should I merge black Rager, G1 Rager and Shafter? Or Medical Specialist and Weapon Specialist?

Well, if anyone wanted to see the results, here they are:

Small third party had Hench as the CLEAR winner. In lower places we have Rager, Shafter and UFO. If you combine Rager and Shafter (being the same mold), then they clearly come in second. A clean sweep by iGear. Hover and Bomber also did well.

Large third party toy winner was Hegemon, followed by Assaulter and Steel Core. So Great first attempt by the makers of Hegemon, and a strong showing by FansProject. Another item of note are the votes for Weapons Specialist and Medical Specialist. If you combine them (being nearly the same mold) they actually came in first!

For combiner, we have Giant beating out Hercules, but both did quite well. Someone also voted for Uranos, but I discounted this vote, as he's not out in 2012.

nice work. next year you should have under $50, under $100 and an over $100 categories. :)  along with gestault and maybe an upgrade pack.

yes. :D  medical and weapons specialist are a perfect example. iGear gets a hit just because they made an awesome mold used for two great characters so the vote is split. i mean, if they had ONLY released one of them and not both, the results would have looked better.

or look at it this way, if fp had released two versions of steelcore, maybe a roadbuster repaint or something they would have had their numbers split as well. any company would be hurting its chances by doing repaints.

so next year with hexatron and his grand patriot and shadow repaints i predict the over $100 category will be won by the sixchangers. ;)

Well, if you want to combine similar molds, Weapon/Medical Specialist won the large category. If you do not, then Hegemon won.

For all people's worries about putting Cyclops and Grind Rod in the same category, they both had the same results.

the vanbros should probably have been one option, but it's no big deal IMO.
Very surprised to see Hegemon beat Steelcore in this anonymous poll :)
Well deserved win, whether it's Hegemon or the PP05 mold.

    8. RC/RC Battle
    9. Art Feather Bumblebee
    10. Madblender/Shadow Assassin/Wheel Loader & Mixer (3 way tie!)

For smaller figure, combinging similar molds, we have:

    3. UFO
    4. Hover/Bomber
    5. Shattered Optiaim and Hot Flame
