Hand slipped first time trying to extend his legs and it turned my hand into a bloody mess. It tore skin in a couple of places. I had to use a hammer to beat the legs down. Quakewave is fine. Never will be transformed again, but fine.

i think i can literally say that i own the oldest quakewave in existence, a final production testshot. it looks like the day i got it and wears great, this toy is really one of the best TFs ever made (to date) in my opinion. its simple, sturdy, aesthetically pleasing, and had few to no QC issues if i recall. i will go to bat for this figure for life.

Quakewave released months before my return to TF world, i believe that it will be the ONE piece that missing from my MP setup, and i am fine by that.

The one I bought was second hand and advertised as transformed once. The legs where stif, but a combination of wd40 and learning the rocking movement seemed to have made it no problem.

In addition to jamming my fingers (and yes, drawing blood in the process) while compressing his legs, I managed to slightly gouge the plastic on the top of his knee when it hit his waist. I do NOT enjoy that part of his transformation. Needless to say, I haven't transformed him again since - and I got him in October last year.

As nice as he looks in his alt mode, you just can't beat that one-eyed face in a display anyway. :D

As a sidenote, it's much easier to collapse his legs if you do them separately.

Lunar just stocked some more Quakewaves. $290 price tag though. $100 markup from when I bought in May.

    FT-03 QUAKEWAVE | Lunar

Get them while their available if you have the funds.

I wonder how many people had their hopes raised and dashed within two sentences.

My bad...I hadn't seen that they were $70 (ish) to the US. I had paid around $50 for mine back when he was selling a lot of them though...and I definitely felt like it was worth the $50. It is a very heavy stand with a thin strip of padding on the bottom of it to protect both it as well as the surface it rests on. It displays Quakewave in gun mode at a slight upward angle that looks great. You're right...$70 is a lot of money...but I have spent $70 on individual pieces of my Transformers collection that I was a lot less happy with. I only wish the Takara seeker stands were this well made.

Eh, I love my Quakewave, but I honestly am scared to TF him into gun mode. The limbs on mine are just too tight, and the waist piece actually popped out of place when turning him into robot mode.

I put it back easily enough, but I'm really worried that's where a significant break could happen, in the region of his expanding waist.

And since I rather enjoy him in robot mode, I generally leave him like that. (So I'm not planning on getting a stand I won't use.)

Quakewave is nice, but the legs being impossibly tight, as well as the shoddy electronics (head switch broke, and the arm cannon is already flickering), doesn't make me think of him as superior to Takara stuff, unlike some.

On a positive note, if you encounter issues with your Quakewave, you can reach out to Fans Toys and more likely than not, they'll help you out (like sending a replacement piece). I have repeatedly been amazed at how much time dalianjj puts into helping out his supporters. Conversely, if something goes wrong with a Takara item, and that return window has passed, you are shit out of luck.

I had a really cool idea that would mod grey Quakewave into a cybertronian megatron... Never got around to it.
