I ordered it from Kapow toys. It costs just a few bucks. Don't know if it's available somewhere else.

Anybody got a good picture of the face backing painted black? I'm tempted to do mine but want to see a finished product before I commit.

If you do it right, it looks great. However, in my experience I had to make several attempts before I was satisfied with the job.

First, make sure you've got a really flat black. I made the mistake of getting something I wasn't satisfied with & had to paint again.

And while this goes without saying, remove the eye before getting into this.

Painting the inside of the eye was extremely difficult, maybe it was more difficult for me because I only wanted to paint the back portion black & not have the sides done.

I did find that using isopropyl alcohol helped remove the trace bits of paint I left on the sides.

I think it came out pretty well, but it was a bit of a nerving experience. I didn't want to ruin this rather expensive item, but wanted the nice look of the black inner eye.

I would use a dark purple rather than black. Black gives too much contrast and looks a little off. If you use a dark purple it looks more natural and realistic and gives the desired effect.

Tigerblade had some good ones too, but I can't find them. On mine, I painted the entire socket. It's a lot easier, and cleanup is easy if you get any paint on the front edge.

So you took the head apart for that, I take it? Very clean around the eye.

thanks guys! i'm totally blown away by the quality on this. i just started getting into the masterpiece figures and this was my first of the collection. i've since picked up mp13 and 11 and its amazing how the quality and feel of shockwave is to them. their is minor blemishes on the official takara figures, rough in some areas of the plastic, etc... the shockwave/quakewave had none of it... and he weighs almost twice as much... unreal quality from a 3rd party figure! looking forward to the dinobots fans toys is doing! if the quality is as good as the qw... they'll be knockout figures as well!

Just pull the back of the head off, which houses the LED and the electronics. Paint the inner socket, wipe off any paint that goes over the front edge of the face before it dries.

That kicks ass. That is such an iconic TF cover and Quakewave looks good "in character" like that. Awesome concept!

got mine in the mail today from chimungmung with no problems. box was in excellent condition, came with all the alternate parts, batteries installed, and even a set of decepticon labels was thrown in. I haven't messed around with it too much, will it stand on its own in gun mode? was tipping forward for me, not sure if I am missing something. may eventually pick up the grey version later.

If you ever come across one, the custom Quakewave stands that heirofthedog1 was selling on eBay are fantastic. I purchased the upgraded second version that allows the gun mode to stand at an angle and comes complete with an energon cube and could not be more pleased with it.
