Wow this came out of nowhere... Looking good (if not 100% perfect - need to see a bit more of the legs). Bargain price too (because, y'know, complex independent releases aren't funded on thin air!). I'm definitely going to pick this thing up, assuming Takara don't tease an official MP before it gets released... Doubtful, since we already have a decent list "in development" Masterpieces which doesn't include Shockwave. For Fanstoys sake I hope it gets released and does well, and they can give us more stuff like Blaster.

Toon colours are the best way to go IMO, but TBH I think this will look great either way. The hose is a possible hiccup, but if they were really smart they might have engineered it to plug into either the topside or the underside of the forearm...

There was a second pic (along with the gun mode) that was removed from the OP showing the rear of the figure which looked to have the backpack made from the barrel. Not sure why it was removed but I guess we'll see more soon.

This......haters gonna hate. The only real detailing he had was on his inner legs and between his backpack and back.....which was only really visable in gun mode anyways.

Doesn't the fact that you can't see it mean it meets your masterpiece criteria of not being able to find it?  

BTW, it looks like the gun barrel is where the G1 backpack would be (which in turn has moved to become lower leg bulk). Quite a clever way round that part of his transformation. I'm hoping there's something between the arms in gun mode to connect the barrel to the body, so it doesn't partsform.

 

They haven't shown the gun mode, so I'm a little bit worried.

 

I agree with these guys, In both the comics and cartoon the animation and or drawings varied frame by frame and depending on who was drawing it. So it is hard to say "it doesnt meet the cartoon/comic asthetic"

I like the freedom that this gives to anyone making these very nice figures, and I dont think 150$ is to much to ask but the timing is off for my bank accout. ..................looking for a way..............................

this is fantastic news. either fanstoys finally gets an awesome release into our hands, or they force takara to make another move. even if these guys are losing money from what happened with sound/acousticwave, they are like the ultimate trolls of the 3P game. force takara into releasing a better official MP or we release ours.

sucks they had to take a hit with acoustic, but this is an awesome rebound figure. I'm down, pending no counter from takara. if there is a counter, I will weigh both and see which I like more.

 

Reprolabels might make an upgrade set for this for "G1 accuracy."

Well, i guess this isn't quite a MP, it's at the MP scale but not MP quality of design.

For those saying the toon was inconsistant with how shockwave was drawn, his were always drawn as curved in the shin area and bug knee pads, so this is inaccurate to all G1 scenes with shockwave.

 

I really doubt FT forced TT to rush a Soundwave. It was more than likely planned a long time ago.

 

Nice figure. G1 cartoon looks better.

 

like Transbot said earlier, we need to support these guys because wether they make the figures or not they do help get official ones released, they stir the tides so to speak.
