Man, next year is gonna hurt. I gotta get this. My list of figures I want to pick up is just getting longer and longer. My own fault though I keep trying to build a CHUG style collection and MP...but I love it. great time to be a TF fan.

TBF I think Shocky is one of the toys that was very close to the cartoon.....the only difference being the placement of the hose and the shades used.

If the quality is there, it is a definite must have .. until or unless the official one gets kicked out of the gate.

See, going back to the legs, even with the new transformation I don't see why it couldn't be more cartoon accurate. If you look at MP Soundwave, arguably a similarly simple design, TakaraTomy kept all the attributes of the cartoon model and enhanced it with details from the toy with a couple of original details. The only portion of that figure that is not cartoon accurate are the feet.

In this case, the upper body for Shockwave follows that design approach perfectly, but then the legs completely depart from it. It's just a bit jarring.

I get that people have different standards for things, but I have to agree with you.

i would have loved having these toys instead of most of the ugly g1 bs we got in the 80's. if i was still a child, i would have gotten this for sure. but not for 150, lol. i guess you guys just dont seem to undrstand that if you keep paying these ******e prices, they will keep increasing it. otherwise no way this would have been over a 100. not that i would buy it though, 60 to 70 at most for this piece of plastic is more than fair enough. even with shipping, i guarantee they would still be making at least 50 of that. personally i dont like getting f'd over and i would never have a company, any company, make 130 of of me on a 20 $ figure. my ethics wont let me, but to each his own.

The only thing I can agree with is that we the consumer allowed the 3P prices to get to this level. I tried at the beginning to preach this but now it is just too late. The plus side of the higher prices is that we got more 3P groups, more items and HasTak catering to collectors now.

Everything else you said just shows a total lack of knowledge on toy manufacturing. Even Hasbro at best would sell this for 70-80 (MP THUNDERCRACKER) Add shipping and you jack the price up another $10-$20. So what you have is $80-$100. Now lets one up that and choose Takara they sell this size for $150 plus shipping you get $160-170. I have no clue where you think this can be made for $20? You do know there are moulds needed to make these toys and they cost 10's of thousands each.

i think this is pretty awesome. is it perfect? no. but hey, this is closer to the animation model than TT's second attempt of starscream (mp-11) to his animation model. i would LOVE a purple clear plastic light up gun hand like the original toy! if thats possible please do it!!!! as far as the colors go, i would be ok with either the dark purple of the toy or the cartoon accuracte lavenderish color...either would be cool and bought. i'm assumign that blue thing is just an early prototype. hat color would NOT be acceptable and an INSTANT SKIP. A YELLOW EYE is key as well. hopefully it'll light up...if not, no biggie. also, if i like it enough i might buy a shackwave astro magnum repaint if they make it. haha.

Sometimes the animation models didn't agree with the animations models! It's kind of hilarious.

The legs really don't bother me. I get that the kneecap is small when compared to the source material but it's not a deal breaker, and I can always modify it with relative ease if I ever really feel inclined to do so. Shockwave's most unique features were always in his upper body to me, and they nailed that so who cares otherwise.

I'll be honest - my biggest issue with this design isn't the legs, it's the hose placement.

If that's easily resolvable by rotating the arm without any huge visual impairment, cool.

I don't think so at all. At least on those figures you can see major improvements. This just looks like g1 Shockwave with a nicer head, a gundam hand, and some knee joints. Plus it's missing a lot of fine details. I for one don't see where the barrel hides in robot mode, if it does at all. With a masterpiece, I'd bet money you wouldnt be able to find it on the body.

i think people need to stop guessing at COST. the reality is none of us aside from insides have a clue because there are too many factors to consider. you could make the same exact part from 2 different factories located within feet from each other an dhave different costs. there are MANY MANY reasons whyh this can happen. some of them have nothing to do with the factory side at all. If i were to guess i'd say 20-30 isn't far off though (and keep in mind i design things that are made of plastic all day long)....but lets concentrate on selling price. as we know...the only relation between cost and selling price is that price> cost. everything else....speculation.

so please everyone stop with COST arguments....lets talk about what we kind of know....price and DEMAND.

Working in plastics and keeping in mind that 3P toys at best BEST BEST BEST sell 2000-5000 units; do you really think this could be sold for $20-30 and that will cover time, r&d, mould costs, toy production costs, packaging and still leave a profit large enough to make this venture worth while?

I won't put my knowledge of moulds and plastics against yours but with what I know I know $20-30 is an impossible dream when you look at the total picture.

Like what? The original toy was pretty much all smooth surfaces, like the animation model.
