Nice. Looking forward to the review.

Now I'm going to go weigh MP Optimus for comparison too.

I'm dead tired right now, i just set the video to go live as soon as it's done uploading. The initial quality probably won't be that high right off the bat, HD takes longer to process. But it says it should be uploaded in 80 minutes...i'd give it a good 95 minutes before it's HD quality. But i gotta go to bed haha

If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask. I'll get to answering them as soon as i get back on here tomorrow.

No, but Masterpiece toys try to balance perfectly the G1 Toy and the cartoon... but even if they make him only the space cannon on tracks, and even if he falls under gun laws, I don't see Toys R Us ordering a $70 to $120 gun robot.

Parents aren't gonna see the distinction. They are going to see a giant gun on the shelf, and complain "this is in poor taste" with the recent hoopla of desensitizing kids towards guns of modern media. It's a public relations fiasco I don't think Hasbro or TRU will be willing to deal with, even on such a micro level as transformers nerdom.

As I said, my local TRU has cleared out much, if not all, of the Starwars blasters, nerf guns, etc, in response to recent school shootings and political grandstanding.

A tape deck, no problem... Cannons... hmmm... harder to justify...

But like you say, it's recent hoopla.

If Takara announced an MP Galvatron tomorrow, which they won't, Hasbro still wouldn't have one on U.S. shelves till next year. We as a people don't have the attention spans to cling to an issue that long.

ummm... games and toy guns have been an issue since 1993 (probably before that, too, but that's the first year I started following politics)... and it gets constantly reinvigorated every year because every year is an incident... If Hasbro has issues re-releasing Classics Megatron and that looks like a nerf gun, and Classics Galvatron was a tank, and all subsequent Megatrons have been tanks, the odds of a G1 Galvatron are slim to none.

It's always an issue. It's just not always an ISSUE!, if you know what I mean.

Case in point? Those toy guns that people are saying have been recently pulled from shelves got there somehow. They weren't pulled after Columbine, never to return. It's because this stuff comes in waves and interest in any issue fades.

I'm somewhat new to this board. Is it common to massively derail from one topic in favor of complaining about hypothetical futures and social issues that practically nobody who collects transformers or posts about them in the middle of the night is qualified to speculate on in any way, shape, or form?

I was under the impression that A) Quakewave is being released, B) For the disclosed future, he's the only Masterpiece Shockwave in town, and C) That's pretty much all we know that pertains to the thread title.

If wildly uninformed speculation is normal, however, feel free to carry on.

You mean is it common for naturally-occurring tangents to ever spin off from a discussion, momentarily breaking up the chorus of "this looks great" and "I can't wait to have it" before swinging back around to join the main discussion?

    Y'know, it's just possible.

Firstly, welcome! Secondly, it's bad form to scold fellow board mates and can be pretty off-putting if you're looking to make a good impression. Thirdly, I have a feeling you'll fit right in here :)

I had the chance to order this but decided against it. The allure of an MP scaled Shockwave is pretty obvious, of course, but the mold just leaves me a bit cold. It just kind of lacks any 'wow' beyond being an MP scale Shockwave, don't you think? Would be astonished if Takara A) Didn't tackle Shockwave and B) Didn't do a far better job. We'll see though - may re-access after some video reviews.

I honestly think it's gonna be one of those figs that's not attention grabbing in photos due to it being a hard one to get a good pic of......but when it's in hand it's like OMG OMG OMG this is so awesome!!

Fans Toys has timing on their side. Between Soundwave, the Lamborghini brothers, and the announcement of the Datsuns, I'm in a Masterpiece frenzy (oh, right, we're also getting Masterpiece Frenzy).

I'm sure Takara will do one too, and it may even end up being better (though god knows what there is to improve), but it's not gonna scratch my itch now.

While I sympathise with the sentiments of gun control and child safety, I do think a line has to be drawn somewhere. Toy replica guns are a no-no, sure, fine (like many in our collector age group I grew up playing Cowboys and Indians with gun toys with caps etc and it's sad if that is gone forever, if perhaps necessary), and I can even see a case for taking away fantasy guns like Star Wars blasters. This would no doubt include our purple friend with the yellow eye. But Galvatron? A space cannon-tank thing with a transparent orange tube for a barrel? Surely that's less of an issue than, say, a model of a real tank that exists in the real world for the purposes of real war and killing?
The rate MP announcement are coming, they just might! *fingers crossed*
