Looks great, too bad you have to paint it. Not into that.

Would this work better with the dark energon version?

I am getting this for the BBTS Dark Energon Version which will limit the painting on the face, cannon, and small details on the chest.

The only thing you really HAVE to paint on the parts is the face/eyes. Then of course the Megatron corpse, but you can think of it like playing Unicron, lol.

Renderform is Venksta -- you can't buy this direct from him because he's doing this as a partnership with A3U.

The cost is also high because it's an extremely limited item. The more limited something is, the more it generally costs, as it costs more money on his end to make only a few items than to make a bunch in bulk.

It'll come with assembly instructions I believe he said, but I doubt it'll come with instructions on how to actually paint a figure. However, there is a lot of information in the Radicons section of this board about what types of paints to use and some tips.

My advice is to go to BBTS and buy one of those $5.80 PRID Bumblebees and use that to practice on, or go to a retail store and go buy some cheap clearance TFs. Family Dollar or Dollar General (one of those Dollar stores) has DOTM deluxes for $5 too which you can use as practice.

That Polaris kit was a resin cast run as well, and limited, so it was not cheap.

Painting the face only, could work. But it really comes down to the individual. The chest might be too plain for some.

I'll include some tidbits on the best wait to paint it, with the least amount of effort, and for people that want to spend more time.

I'll be honest. I'm not great at hand brushing at all. For the photos in the original post, showing the minimal silver paint, I just did two thin coats. Its easy to do. You just need a good sized brush, and patience for 30 minutes. :)

Yeah, those sprues should be fine. As well, when you get the kit, you can paint a bit of the underside of the chest, to do some quick testing. As that part will not be seen.

Okay, once these sell out, Dr. Wu needs to make a set, so they available cheaply and with finished paint.

I'd like to see this on the BBTS-exclusive Dark Energon Megatron. (Or even better... if I could shell the ~100$ to buy/ship both the kit and said figure. :(  )

Please no Dr Wu rippoff of this. All their non diecast items are horrible quality that I own. They seem to use a cheaper resin. Renderform kits feel like factory made compared to the resin Dr Wu uses. And there would be no way Dr Wu could make a cheaper kit. Their TFP Wheeljack kit, which was half a head and a puny bomb accessory cost $20 alone at BBTS.

I would like to see TFC or Mastermind make a full ABS kit. Maybe even improve the jet mode if possible. They for sure could offer a cheaper version with paint apps.

$57 is a lot for a kit this small that requires painting and gluing.

Well his shoulders arent clear like that picture they are dark grey, I think the purple from the kit might not match as well.

Price-wise, you're better off using the base TFP Voyager Megatron figure which is easily obtainable, and most likely will be on sale... You're going to use a Kit on an exclusive figure - not really that advisable.

Is it fear of scratching or otherwise messing up the base figure that you don't recommend putting this kit on an exclusive Megatron?

I hadn't known Hasbro changed the shoulder pad colors. I think the dark should pads work still on that repaint. Depending on the G1 Galvatron design you look at, his should pad usually had a gray color, and a dark gray or black on it.

For the purple, I feel you will have to put an extra bit of effort into the kit, and repaint the purple to match some what the lighter purple on the Megatron figure. If you can pull it off, I think it could look really great. I'm going to try it myself. With the kit though, you'll have to primer it with gray, or white, and then get either a purple that is close to the shade on Megatron, or custom mix it. If you decide to go this route, you could take your dark energon Megatron with you to Games Workshop, and get the staff to help pick out a good matching purple, or a way to mix one up.
