Wow, there really is no pleasing everyone...

I thought MTMTE WAS G1, just, well, you know - different media.

I know the Bushwack and Veer are newly added to the list of Minibots. Do they replace any of the original 8 or are they still going to be making the other figures like Powerglide and Wheelie?

I think you misunderstand me, I think this figure is perfect and my comment was in reply to all the people requesting IGear change this figure so it has a smirk as in James Robert's MTMTE Swerve. I think that character and look (different altogether to the G1) deserves it's own piece.

I feel like the alternate head could've been the smiling head ala modern Legos.

Just seen the Proto for Veer, Dr Wu, over to you! Definitely new head needed, and maybe a slightly different chest, but I could live without that, but new head definitely.

I'm still hoping Hasbro does Tailgate because I'm anal about him being the same mold as the one I use for Windcharger. Not holding my breath though.

That would actually be a much better "alternate face" than the one they've given "Outback". I'm sure nobody cares about the one with the visor with the weird lines in it.

Or, y'know... it could also be that they just think that this looks better. I can be fussy about colour sometimes, but pale or dark blue, doesn't really matter to me. It's still Beachcomber, and still in a recognizably G1 colour scheme. In fact, this is probably closer to the tone of blue he had in the cartoon itself. I'd rather this, over too dark. It's not like it's an inappropriate colour tone for a dune buggy.

Ditto Cosmos... er, "UFO". People were complaining that his green and yellow were too bright, but if anything I think it's an improvement (for a flying saucer) over the weird olive drab of the original toy.

That's a good point about the green flower though. :)

YES. YES YES YES. A grim Swerve serves no purpose. Nobody says "Oh, I have so much nostalgia for the stoic millimetre of solemn countenance on my original Swerve's miniscule badly-painted face." There is almost literally no prominent visual model for Swerve as a character other than his MTMTE self. It's kind of dumb not to go with a smile on this figure. Or to at least include an alternate face that is grinning.

I really disagree. This figure is pretty good. But it has nothing to lose and everything to gain in having a smile. For some collectors it will literally make or break the figure.

And no... I don't think that MTMTE Swerve is significantly different than G1 Swerve (at least visually), other than the obvious lack of an earth mode. It's pretty clear that they are based on the same physical design. In fact, there's almost nobody in the MTMTE cast who looks MORE like his G1 incarnation than Swerve does. He's probably the least changed and stylized one of them all.

And to be point blank about it, I just think it's going to please more people and make more money for iGear. So why fight it?

Maybe these were designed and tooling began before MTMTE made Swerve the hottest property?

If they do go back and put the smiling face on it, that would be great and would make a lot of people happy, and given the "battle mask" head is just for fun included by the designer rather than just keeping the back of the head blank, and has no nod to fiction at all it does make sense.
I guess I just want a Roche based Swerve as I think the proportions alone are totally different with the HUGE wheels for shoulders, and I think a non-Earth mode is a HUGE change for a figure - because of that, including the homage on this figure would do nothing for me personally, but I'm just one guy.

That blue is terrible. I'm so happy otherwise maybe he could be painted...but why would iGear make it so odd when everything else is so spot on?

iGear does seem to use oddly bright colors for some of these toys. For Beachcomber I don't really mind, (I might actually like it more) but I would have preferred if Cosmos was more like the old colors.

I also agree Swerve should be smiling. They could go back and change Brawn and Cosmos' face, so I don't see why they can't do it to Swerve.

I say this admitting I have no idea how the planning process for this works but: In the past year they couldn't have changed it to a smile? It's probably only recently existed as an actual physical THING, not just on the computer.

This is a good point. Igear could have changed it, but I would say if this was going to happen, it would be reflected in the images we've seen in the last few days. Still, it'll be interesting to see if Igear listen as they have done before.

It's just not good to keep making fans buy 2nd figure that are more G1 colors. It works for the 1st or 2nd but not every time.

I do welcome exclusives that have different colors to the G1 count parts.

Anyone else always have problems with the photo pop-up window on an iPad or iPhone? I can't ever get it to close or stay centered...

Yep, love beachcomber but the blue is off and the buggy mode could have been amped up a bit. Swerve definitely needs a smile. Why all the random Swerve figures this year? I count at least four. AM, Prime, GDO, and iGear.

I don't mind them using slightly different colors for their figures. What I do mind is them playing games and releasing the figure again in a color most fans prefer later on. That would put us in an awkward situation when it comes to both versions. Do we order the first release or hold out and wait for the more expensive repaint which may or may not happen? If we buy the first release, and they do release a more accurate version later on, then we might have to buy two of the same figure. And that's not cool.
