Wow! My memory of the G1's has been SUPER romanticized in my mind. MMC has made what I remember without knowing it.

Still to this day, whenever my sister comes over and sees my MP-04 and MP-05 on my shelf, she insists that they are the same toys from our childhood. I can't help but laugh, knowing the HUGE difference between them and the G1 toys. Just goes to show how a GREAT toy design can capture the nostalgia and still give us the upgraded articulation that we always desired.

I do own the original reissue but that was purchased long ago and he's been untouched in Predaking mode since. MMC has taken Tantrum, has put him on steriods and has given us something that is made of win and magic. I can not wait to see the rest. As others have mentioned, even though I am a proud FP whore and a huge Menasor fan, as things stand, this project currently holds most of my excitement. That's the main reason I don't collect G1 toys. No doubt there is that flash of nostalgia when you first get your hands on it, especially if it's still in box. But its much better (to me at least) when you get that initial blast of nostalgia, and then you realize how much better an updated, super articulated version of that toy you had as a kid is... and then you get to play with it too! Sorta like breaking out the old NES/SNES and playing a few of the old games. A few minutes in, you start looking at the PS3 and 360 and wondering why you ever took the effort to pull those "oldies" out of storage and hooked them up in the first place. |

I've never personally understood the love for original g1 toys or reissues. (other than nastalgic reasons of course, but I grew up right after g1 ended, so...) |

I don't think they are for anyone that enjoys new age tech and engineering, especially those that NEED articulation. Also, they display so beautifully. ![]() And not to derail the thread, there is G1 Predaking on the third shelf, in the middle, at the back. lol BUY MY STUFF There from the start, there until the end!***PROUD SUPPORTER OF 3RD PARTY PRODUCTS*** Sig pictures are to be no larger than 40KB in file size and should be no larger than 300 pixels in height and 500 pixels wide - 2005 Staff |

Yeah, I wasn't trying to bag on anyone who does collect G1, just stating why I don't. I'm positive if I had enough disposable income, and the space to display them, I'd definitely have some G1 toys too. But as it stands, when faced with a choice between one or the other (G1/updated redesigns), I'll go with the the new articulated versions EVERY time.
