I think I now fall into the camp that would've preferred Blackbird be a larger bot, much as I hate to say it. Besides the crappyness of the design, his diminutive gestalt torso mode let's down the whole package. Shame because the limb bots all look pretty sweet (bar those ugly red feet on Skydive, why?)

 

Anyone able to share pics of the combined (so far) mode with some CHUG figures?

 

There was no combiner sets released for Hercules. There was, however, a limited set for Perseus. Unless you've mistaken Maketoys Giant Type-61, which was released as a set. Most online retailers did sell sets of Hercules members after all of them got released. I would say, that the retailers would most likely sell the bundle, and if you wait long enough, you might be able to buy it for cheaper than what it is now. Hope that answers your question.  

 

I did the same thing with Brute. Working on a 3rd one with custom connector parts. Brute somehow became one of my favorite gestalts.

 

Oh man does Falcon have some nice color. Think he's gonna be my fav easily now. Might have to actually buy a second one of him eventually.

 

Uranos huge arms don't jibe with the skinny torso at all. I may still get this combiner since there's no other 3P Superion out there, but only when the price drops to acceptable level for me will I buy it.

 

yup...I'd be cool 100% cool with BBs bot mode being much larger than the others just to make the gestalt mode perfect...in fact, the bot mode would be the only one that suffers...if BB was larger, than his alt mode could/would be in scale with the the other figures alt modes...yeah, the others aren't in perfect scale with each other, but close enough works IMO...

 

It looks pretty good. I started up so hyped for this but was a little discouraged because the colors were potentially way to busy for the more simple design of Superion.

Still a bit too busy but overall looks really nice.

 

Blackbird really screw up Uranos big time.

 

I do like the look of the toy overall, but those legs are super-busy without any clean style lines in stark contrast with the left arm, which is devoid of any detail.

Guess Reprolabels should help with the latter issue. With the leg bots, sometimes less is more.

 

imagine that, this would have looked great compared to what we saw with the old g1 toys. now with the rets of the goodness seen from 3rd party combiners, this really doesnt look that hot imo. tfc seems to be the less skilled in the combiner business.

 

You can rotate the arms so the underside is on top to show off more detail if you want too.

 

... that makes my nether region tingle.

 

Definitely not as good as Hercules but I don't thinks its as bad as all the complaints make it seem. IMO Superion was one of the more boring combiner designs so This being a little plain doesn't bother me. If another company put out a new head with the faceplate from the cartoon and G1 comic I'd be very excited though.

 

Wonder why they didn't attach the wings to the arm bots. Slingshots surely has some blue on it or something to make the left arm look a little less dull.

 

The hands sticking out on the leg bots is a big annoyance of mine---they could have them fold away on the arm-bots, but not on the leg-bots? Despite all 4 limbs having very similarly-transforming arms?

I kinda wish more combiner figures used the basic energon ports.
