I think you underestimate how serious Australia is about Gun Control law......
    ...and the consequences.

As Much as I'd normally agree with you, A non-transforming Transfomer may be the only way for a G-1 Megatron to get past customs in some countries.

If I bought it in a box in another country, I'd take it straight out of the Box (and dump the packaging somewhere) and keep it in robot mode. But there's no way I'd risk buying it to be shipped.......Not a chance.

Because there is currently no decently scaled Megatron to display with the MP Seeker molds, MP Grimlock, and PP01 Faith Leader. For some fans (myself included), this is the cornerstone of a mixed Classics, MP, and third party display, especially since the Classics Seeker mold is too darn small compared to the rest of the line and some of us don't mind the fact that the MP Seekers are bigger than the Classics Autobots (jets are bigger than cars, makes sense to me plus I've always thought the Cons were bigger than the Bots).

iGear was set to release PP02 Horror Monarch, the Megatron counterpart to PP01 FL (downsized "KO" MP Optimus Prime) that looked to be perfectly scaled as a handgun in alt mode (that is, sized for an adult hand rather than a child's) but it's been surmised that iGear dropped this project due to complications with downsizing the MP-05 mold (not that I blame them; thing was fragile to begin with). So there is a void for an Ultra/MP Seeker-sized Megatron.

To those who love and want Hegemon, great. But I'm on the fence and will probably pass and wait for a bigger and better Megs to come along.

too often post about sizing is judged due to the way somone views their collection i.e mixed MP and classics. and its presumed everyone collects the same which is not the case.

i can understand the need for a ppo1 sized megatron for some

what got me so frustrated was the debate over the actual size of hegemon

still wish they would put up some pics of him next to a classics prime but i think the FE prime is a good enough measure.

im excited to see some in hand reviews

I think Australian police have better things to do than put your house under surveillance waiting for you to transform your toy Megatron. :)

As for shipping one, there would be some danger if a particularly zealous customs agent looked at him and said "that looks like a trigger... maybe it transforms into a gun!", though I might be amused to see their attempts to prove this by actually successfully transforming him. On the other hand, someone might say "Hey that's Megatron! That sucker's gettin' SEIZED, and he'd end up in some other TF geek's collection.

Agreed. In this instance, size matters to me (and ultimately to the company who made it), because the fact that he doesn't stand tall enough to match MP10 or Faith Leader simply means that I don't have a pressing reason to buy him... which is a shame all around.

That is some serious stuff. Really glad I don't have such an obstacle in the way of my collecting as that.

He just needs a thick black uni-brow, and he will be the perfect classics megatron.

I already know about all that. However, my point stands... Hegemon is not a "prohibited weapon", it is an action figure. The fact that you can turn it into a (poor) facsimile of a gun makes it little different than a block of wood and some paint. So long as you don't ever transform it (in public) then it isn't a really a toy gun at all.

I realize that there are real issues with toy guns in many countries, and it does suck that Aussies (for example) have to deal with this bureaucratic legal nonsense. It's a very peculiar and awkward special case. Still, as I said, importing the figure (in unmarked packaging) would only be a problem if a particularly imaginative (or already initiated) agent happened to look reallllly close at the action figure. The idea that having one in your house would result in a home invasion and seizure is beyond absurd... unless you also happen to have a grow-op in your basement or something... :)

im getting hegemon cause he looks like the best G1 megatron ive ever seen maybe after only my huuuge MP-05.

he'll fit with my mostly undersized decepticon classics.

ive got the mp-05 to hang with my mp seekers.

once i add the tru mp-10 ill be looking for a new megatron to match as well...

Might wait a long time for it. Word was that iGear dropped their PP02 Horror Monarch project entirely, though there are rumors saying otherwise (and that they're coming up with a highly modified or an entirely new mold since MP-05 is too fragile and complicated to downsize).

Can't say which to believe in at this point, but there have been pictures of a new 3P G1-ish Megatron floating around (with a much better looking pistol alt mode but so-so bot mode; no clue who is the maker or what the scale/size will be or even if it'll be a real future release).

Unless there's a fourth or fifth one I can't think of, the one you're speaking of is the same size as the G1 Megatron toy, one of the photos showed them together.

looks fantastic. Would love to get this, though as with most 3rd party stuff, I'm skipping due to the price.

Will admit though, I'd really prefer to see hasbro and 3rd parties tackling the g2 megatron and wfc/foc design over more gun megatrons. And even more than that, a new galvatron.

Yeah, that might be the one you're talking about. My hopes for an Ultra-sized MP not-Megatron is dwindling but at least I have consolation that Megatron has some representation in my mixed display with the little P-38 pistol that came with PP01 Faith Leader. I've got Takara MP G1-colored Starscream holding him. XD

Wow... this came out really nicely... Much better than the CHUG offering. Course, neither Meg/Galv-atron came out nicely in their CHUG renditions sadly...

Kind of a shame that even Tank versions of Megatron wind up being kinda lame tbh... I personally think it makes for a great updated alt form for the Decepticon Leader... but there's yet to be a really good Tank toy for him.

...really wish I could buy this without worries about cash flow... really...

Oh, and I'm sure Reprolables will make a set for him... this is begging for a good set of G1-styled decals. Chest area is in dire need of it.

One thing that'd be kinda neat to have tho... is a hip-mounted gun like the G1 figure. Minor nitpicking, but it'd be just about perfect then.

It's incredible that a 3rd party has not taken advantage of the situation with the disappointing Universe Galvatron figure, and produced a better one yet. I'm certain a Not-Galvatron figure would sell very well.

Hegemon looks amazing. I preordered mine last month, and am looking forward to having it in hand. It will replace my Nerf Megatron as my Classics Decepticon leader.

Igear might need to strengthen MP Megs before they release it as a downscale as he's super fragile as a big toy if made smaller he might need a partial redesign to make him stronger and more durable - especially if they want to make him with no metal in him.
