If you can get Herc for 300 quid I'd snap their hands off.

The Herc is impressively tall and chunky. Although very pricey.

I prefer Giant. Fits in with the other combiners way more, is cheaper, has individual bots that actually look like Classics made in 2011/12 (the TFC ones look too blocky and have no ankle tilts; it reminds me of some Unicron trilogy bots), I like the headsculpt better, and I like the proportions of the gestalt better. Also helps that the alt modes look more like vehicles rather than blocks with features on them. And I don't understand when people say Giant partsforms more because Hercules partsforms just as much; more so if you include the individual bots.

As you can see from the many responses it totally depends on your collection. It all depends on whether your gonna display solely in Devy mode, all separately, whether prefer G1 style, if you prefer your Devy to tower over everything.

Too many personal preferences and variables in your own collection to ask anyone their personal preferences in regard to aesthetic and collection haves/wants.

As I see it it all comes down to size. Heads can be swapped, they can both be displayed G1 style and each individual robot on both has their pros and cons but one thing they both have that is totally different is size.....I'm sure some of the Shapeways guru's will release extras for Giant to boost him and give him all kinds of cool extras like they have done for Herc tho.

It's a lot of cash and I really don't know which to go for!
I think it comes down to two things: design and scale.

Personally, I prefer Giant's design, but Hercules' scale. I have Giant on preorder, but I'm having a hard time deciding if I want the bigger figure.

[edit]

Hmm, I was just looking at the giant Giant discussion thread and saw blueben's pictures here:

Maketoys Giant

Maybe the scale difference won't be as big as I originally thought. That would make the decision easier - just have to choose between yellow or green.

Fortunately, the last set of Yellow Giant should be out soon, so we'll be able to see how the two compare on height.
