Yeah I would love the proportions to be that of MP 10 optimus. The city commander is this weird hybrid of anime and G1, and wayyy to blocky to be G1 accurate.

But I do agree with you. He's neat...but not really Ultra Magnus to me.

I hope Takara Tomy does a Masterpiece Magnus with his Trailer/armor or iGear (or some other 3rd party) releases a masterpiece Magnus that's more accurate to his G1 appearance.

Of all the 3rd party, I like this guy the most because he tried to match the cartoon:

If they can't give us the cartoon design, then I don't mind the hybrid toy and cartoon like the 2010 DVD Cover:

Thats getting there, just needs alot more work in my opinion. Needs more detail to match the MP line. Plus his head looks a bit goofy. But as a first prototype its going in a good direction, just needs some finessing.

ACToys need to take some queues from FanToys. I understand UltraMagnus in the G1 toon is pretty simplified in shapes, But so is soundwave. FanToys did an incredible job with keeping their soundwave G1 accurate, but also incorporating some very elegant shapes and details.

This is what I have always wanted, and is IMHO the only way to get a truly good Magnus. Have the cab be only the cab in vehicle mode, and not "also turns into a white Prime". Too many compromises otherwise---"white Prime" was only a side-effect of the original hollow, no-articulation G1 toy. Seriously, it held the head on, nothing more. And a comic book cover.

I want a G1 Magnus that's a car carrier, and a big armored robot--do both those modes well, and nothing else.

Finally, I think most "modern" interpretations make the carrier-trailer way too thick/blocky in vehicle mode---looks even LESS realistic than the G1 toy did. RiD Magnus is still IMHO the best car-carrier Magnus we've ever gotten in vehicle mode, by far. Gimme a G1-esque version of that.

Huh, see I am on the exact opposite side. To me UM is a white prime repaint that has power up armor.
