I think if anything it should show them what want, instead of yet another repaint of Movie Bumblebee and Prime.

I'll give pretty much any season 1-3 character a shot (and plenty of other characters as well), but the company behind this doesn't give me a ton of confidence. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised. I'm not going to be heartbroken to have to pass on something.

As for whether I'd buy triple changers we already have again (Classics Astrotrain, Universe Octane and Fansproject Warbot Defender).. probably. I like Triple Changers. Although I certainly want a Blitzwing to complete the trio, I sure as hell wouldn't turn down, say, a Leader-Class Astrotain. That would kick all the asses.

Your first guess is probably it. They said the reason we didn't get an Animated Cyclonus was because there was a Classics one.

I get what you are saying, I really do. The time and money involved in producing a single bot is very high. But to chase after a figure that is popular and already made is just as high risk as making a new "less popular" figure. Also, there are still a ton of wholes Hasbro has left to be filled and of those holes some are still popular characters.

I would rank Blitzwing as high in popularity as Springer and right now the 3rd party demand is on a Blitzwing. We already have a triple changing Springer that most are more than happy with.

Another possibity with X-Transbots, who is famous for copying other people's thunder... What if they made a lower cost all-plastic copy of Warbot Defender?

Except a Warthog is not smaller than a Mini-Cooper. I hate GeeWun "scale". I prefer as close to real-life-vehicle scale as possible. The fact that he's bigger than Optimus Prime is a win in my book.

    This.

I haven't seen every episode of the cartoon, let alone recently enough to recall, but I didn't think Blitzwing was any more "minor" or any less "iconic" than Powerglide, Seaspray or Huffer.

Well, if you make a third party Blitzwing, you can repaint it in ehobby and Shattered Glass colors. So there is some the mold would have some built-in repaints to make a mold worth the effort. Maybe even repaint it in Flywheels colors too.

So assuming that X-Transbots will copy existing third party toys and put their own spin on them, what exists out there? The Jaizaitoys Octane and Warbot Defender are both triple changing third party toys. Maybe you could count the Jaizaitoys Galvatron too, with his handgun mode. The Junkion Blacksmith Headmasters?

I'd quite like that Seaplane concept to be made personally.
I don't think everything made has to be something that appeared in the TV show.

Dropshot or Marauder Megatron might have a market too :

I forgot to add the preference of the designers. Their own ideas in translating the transform mechanism, their own style to brush up the form of the existing design, and their favorite robot in the series.
For others they are looking for show accuracy, but some may go for old toy reference. Designers many have different visions too.
There isn't much sample and "standard" on how things should be made, and what rules they have to follow for a certain "less popular" character. One faulty decision may lead to complete restart of the project, or no buy from the customer's side.

As for triple changer it is up to the designer's skill to play around with the design. Other than the issues from the above, sometimes it is a give and take situation when it comes to imagery vs feasibility problem. Judging by the current customers' shopping behavior it is not wise to jump into that area, for the end result might be chaotic.

Wow. That Spinger is pretty bad ass. I like it more then that Warbot Defender. I just think Defender is fugly.

But yeah, what's up with everyone side stepping Blitzwing. I think everyone is scared to tackle that project. Lol. C'mon Hasbro. Show them how it's done.

i would be very surprised if that springer transformed, but its allegedly a triple changer so...
something about the way the head sits bothers me, but i'd buy it if they tame down the colors a bit. its springer, not green lantern.

I would think about going for something like that. Price has been the only reason I haven't bought Warbot yet. And since 99% of my TFs are for display only, the plastic vs. diecast wouldn't matter to me.

I get what you are saying. Me, scale doesn't matter, since it hasn't mattered to Hasbro for 28 years. :D

Seems the people at X-Transbots are being very talkative these days, and in english! I asked them if they planned to make that Jaizaitoys Octane as one of their XT series. Their response:

So they are not directly copying the Octane, but Octane is one of the toys planned.

I agree if all goes well with their "Springer" it'll do well - but if that bad boy is a voyager.... this will be a MUST HAVE for me.

X-Transbots just posted some art of Octane and Sandstorm, definite hints of them working on Triple Changers.
